Jehova's witnesses in Poland - how to deal with them?

Basically what I said was, I appreciate the time you have taken, I wish you good luck but I am not interested.

That's also been my experience. My mum had a great way of getting rid of JWs. She simply said, "We're Jewish" and they always turned tail and disappeared. Not bad for an Irish Catholic. Oh my God, she lied! I guess she's burning in hell now.

mormons seem to be slightly less harmful?

Two immaculately dressed young men told me to f myself when I very politely told them that I was not going to invite them into my flat (in London) after they had repeatedly asked me if I was happy. (I was, especially after one of them said that)

In their belief system, only 144,000 will be chosen for heaven....they're religion has 7.65 million worldwide. That's not very good odds. ;)

...and how many of the chosen are women?

Jehova's witnesses in Poland - how to deal with them?

If they are in the habit of handling out their little Watch Tower pamplets at your job; be sure to tell your Human Resources Dept. I'm sure HR will put a stop to the annoying problem immediately!

The only way to deal with them is politely. Either a yes, please; or a no, thanks.

radio marija ripping off old babcias or JW doing the same with equally-naive unstable people - for me the same scam...

I am half polish and half Scottish, and we have J W 's over here too.
I am always polite to them when I meet them in the street.
I am a committed Christian and attend the Baptist Church I Belive God loves each person on Earth and sent his only begotten Son Jesus Christ into the world to live and die for our sins.

We each half to put our personal trust in Jesus and ask forgiveness for the wrong things we have done in our lives. If we do then Jesus will forgive us of all the bad things we have done.

J W's are bound by a set of rules and are expected to follow them and are told what they can and can't to. They are always trying to work hard so to gain favour with Jehovah. We don't have to work our way to Heaven atall. Th e price has been paid for us all when Jesus died on the cross for each on of us.

I tell them that Sister Roberta Marie (second grade, 60 yrs ago) told us that it was a venial sin for us to read their WatchTower (or whatever it is). True story, too. (She also said it was a venial sin to read the bible because as a Catholic we were to get our info strictly from the Catechism.) They promptly give up and leave.

Interesting. Yes, one must be vigilant with evil cultists.

See, when they were knocking on my door, I told them how is their teachings in contradiction with both- Christ and Svetovid. I then started to convincing them that only way for them to save themselves from sin is to turn to Christ and Svetovid. Believe me, that destroyed their logic and they literally escaped, never came again.

All you have to say is, "I am the man of this house and I do not want you calling here anymore."
That is all it takes.
They go back to their Kingdom Hall and put your name and address in their do not call on book.
They J.W. men will not talk to the woman of the house but the J.W. women that come calling will.
It must be the man of the house to tell them not to return.
No need to be rude to them.

I just think that one who walk in Poland, from door to door, with Svetovid on his lips have much bigger chance to get attention then Jehova's witnesses.

``Halo, would you be so kind to consider giving some respect to Svetovid, side by side with Our Lord Jesus Christ and all the rest as it is said in Catechism? Would you?``

I just tell them that anyone that doesn't believe in Santa Claus can't be worth the powder to blow up.

Not much of a Christian are you, by breaking one of the Ten Commandments and revering another God 'side by side'? That's blasphemy - you're going to Hell

Close the door on them

Better to smile nicely and politely say 'no thanks' as I used to do when they (or the local priest for koledy, or any other uninvited callers) used to call. Except for the chimney sweeps' calendar (a charitable thing in Poland) who are welcome. One benefit of not living in a block is that you don't get uninvited visitors.

Anyway, the JWs are moving more and more towards standing in the street rather than cold calling.

Please don`t dream of burning me as heathen. I have same right to live as you have. Found love of Christ in your heart. That is what UN charters say but we maybe know that ``Mother`` Theresa don`t think so but at least, one who is of Slavic origin have to be tolerant on elements of pre-Christian Slavic faith within Christianity.

Anyway, I am Christian. I must inform you how Serbian version of Christianity preserved praising elements of old faith, particularly Svetovid and Slava ancestral cult. Its official.

Anyway, I am Christian.

No you're not. You don't follow Christian doctrine, which doesn't allow for any other God, it's quite clear on that. Christiantity spent centuries wiping out pagan religions and taking over their festivals and rites.

Better to be an atheist, and realise that it's complete cobblers. Cult + Time = religion. Given enough time, people have even gotten more accepting of Scientology. Your Jesus and Svetovid are no different, and started off just the same.

From the current thread discussion, I suspect that Jehovah's Witnesses are treated in Poland somewhat the way Mormons were historically looked upon a trifle askance here in the States. Same for the Amish as well, not to mention the Quakers:-)

No you're not. You don't follow Christian doctrine

But I am. I know that Christ love Svetovid. Our Lord Jesus Christ have great heart. Jesus love nature and spirits of my ancestors. So, I love Christ and His beloved Mother that made him so kind.

My Christ didn`t approve wiping out pre-Christian faith in Europe. Those who say so, actually used His name for their personal gain and to justify stealing of Slavic (ie Sarmatian) lands..

I'm afraid Jehova's witnesses are far more recognisable than Svetovid.
Luckily, more and more of them decide to have their little stalls with the Watchtower put up somewhere in the street rather than visit people at home.

oh gosh no Dolno, Jehovahs Witnesses were taken to concentration camp along with Jews.
However, they could get out by renouncing their faith, unlike Jews.

Don't get me wrong I don't wish em dead, they just annoy the hell out of me by their constant door knocking, strange how they always seem to send the pretty young girls in with dad or granddad hovering 50 meters down the road.

Oh killing kids by not giving them blood transfusions is not good, each to their own heh

Whats odd is that they repeatedly send their young daughters to my house knowing full well that I much older, there seems something odd and not right in this, why cant the parents come and talk to me.

What pisses me off about JW's is that they often bring along little girls - always girls, and never boys - to screw with me. I meant mentally.

My stock answer, even in the presence of a little girl, is that I am an atheist and want to stay that way.

The man is ahead of the household with the women expected to remain quiet and submit to her husband within the J.W.
I don't think you would make a good J.W. wife Roz. lmao

You don't have much room to talk lol

Ive seen you posting that your pray to Svetovid.

"Svetovid" is associated with war and divination and depicted as a four-headed god with two heads looking forward and two back.

Really Crow? Not everything Serbian is worth praying too.

Youre worshiping a Demon of Satan, not good for you:(
