More and more Poles especially in the 20-39 age group are carriers of HIV, Rzeczpospolita reported Poland's National Public Health Institute as sayin on their website. During the first half of 2015 179 new cases were registered compared with a mere 46 in the same period last year. Young Poles are more concerned about avoiding pregnancy than STDs, the report stated. Many believe HIV/AIDS is restricted to high-risk groups such as "drug addicts, homosexuals and celebrities fond of experimenting," explained MD Barbara Daniluk-Kula of the National AIDS Centre.
I think this is true yes. There was never any public information campaign about AIDS in Poland as far as I know. Therefore there is a level of ignorance and fear about it.
While in UK (nanny state perhaps? ) back in the 80s every household in the country received a leaflet with accurate HIV/AIDS info, together with other public information sources.
So I was a bit taken aback when my Polish husband nearly went mad at me when he found that my home hairdresser was HIV positive. He said he 'didnt want him in the flat in case he infected the children'...:).
Another Polish person I knew told my son 'you dont need to use a condom, it is silly'.
Sometimes the 'nanny state' drives me mad - other times I am glad it is there.
Migrants that have not been through medical screening, pose a huge threat , not only HIV but also Ebola, Terrorist groups have threatened in the past that they will send over migrants who carry disease
Poland should adopt the same rules as Dubai does as part of its residency process
Medical screening in Dubai includes :-
AIDS/HIV Hepatitis B Leprosy Syphilis Tuberculosis (TB)
I also think testing for drug addiction would also be appropriate. All costs should be at the applicants expense
If the applicant fails any of the tests they should be deported.
I'll have a crack, maybe because being HIV positive for many is case of environmental exposure as opposed to ignorance. Drug addiction is also an enviromental specific. The EU way of life is pro freedom and pro empathetic. Imagine if you were unlucky enough to be born in such a harsh environment wanting to better your life by moving abroad but couldnt as a result of common, ignorant, monetary based public opnion.
That is what happen when you bring Multiculturalism.
Because with multiculturalism come:
1st: Sexual Depravation. A Person that fuc* with 10 others per night, FOR SURE have a bigger chance of have a exploding condom and transmit Aids.
2nd: Illegal Immigrants that go to Poland without the proper health checks and transmit the disease. EVERY immigrant should have his health checke on arrival.
The problem is that it is not easy when drug addict or (and?) homosexual to get tested in Poland as so much stigmatization. Under such conditions, it is unlikely that a lof of drug addicts and homosexuals go forward to be tested. Last (?) year, there was a report about young homosexuals saying how difficult it is to live in shi@hole towns even nowadays in Poland so they had to hide their being homosexuals.
In view of so much intolerance and narrow mind, it is to be expected that people won't go forward and take tests as they don't want to be labelled "x" or "y".
Absolutely, Dolno! When people know that they'll be judged and labelled 'X" or "Y" (in very small towns, it could be big problem), people who might be sick don't check whether they are or not and on top of that they risk contaminating others.
I think if the stigma of disease is such a problem the the patient should be treated anonymously and if needs be in a different district , at least the patient will be taught about the risks of transmission and if HIV positive can be given medication to prevent full blown aids, the church should also be in support of this.
@Nothans: welcome to Afghanistan! ;) @Dolno: imagine how it can be especially in Polska B! ;). Whoever is "different" has to hide not to be stigmatized and it is normal that people who might be sick don't go forward for tests (I would not). The person shall be labelled as "drug addict" or "homosexual" or whatever and then hard to survive (including work...) in the town/village ;).
Someone explained to me what the definition of Polska B is, and I am definitely in the B zone.
some people need to understand that you can get HIV without being a drug addict or being homosexual, you may have gone to your local tattoo parlor or dentist who may have omitted to sterilize a piece of equipment, or you may of had a blood transfusion in the days when testing for HIV was not in place.
More education is needed in Poland , I think a few posters have proved that point here.
@Nothanks: you think and talk exactly like those barbarians! Drug addicts as well as alcoholics for instance are sick and need to be treated, not stigmatized and condemned. The article talks about Poland. In the West, people are not stigmatized and do take tests and if sick they are treated.
@Dolno: absolutely, more education is needed in Poland and also in .... PF! ;). True, like you write, people can get aids without being drug addicts or homosexuals but of course too hard to undestand for all the "talibans" above.

That depends on your definition of drug addict, ALL smokers are drug addicts, ALL people who regularly use drugs illegal or otherwise are by definition drug addicts.
Normal by your definition is what the media tells you, what is really normal?
No you don't. I've worked since I finished school, never once been asked to do a drug test. Maybe it's coz I never worked crap jobs like stacking shelves or serving burgers to drunks.
Its normal to be an economic slave? In a world of abundance? Going to work for 45 hours a per week from the age of 20 right up till around 65 is not fcuking normal mate.

Hahah. Well someone needs to work buddy. I understand and have gotten burned out from certain jobs.
I lived in Southern California and I disagree with the regions decision to Go-Weed. Living among a population on daily drugs is essentially the direction USA has taken. At-least in a city like San Diego it seems to slightly curb the DUI epidemic
