Fashion and Style in Poland

Most of the time they are fine, in fact very nice. Only when it came to wedding, new year's eve ball, then something 'extraodinary' appear. I am only curious where those dresses came from, is hard to believe that someone made it (must be special order), material is very strange, they are shinning with colors you will not believe it (burgandy seems like a popular choice) and keeping the shape for whole night (although it occupied a large space). I also don't know how they can transport such a LARGE piece of garment!

I was curious as to what the younger generation (16-22) wears in Poland. What kinds of brands are popular there for that age group? Are any brands such as Abercrombie, Hollister, or American Eagle considered "cool" for kids in Poland, in the US it seems like that's all anyone wants.

I wanted to know this because I am buying some clothes to mail to Poland and I don't want to send them some gifts they will think are bad! These have to be cool clothes only. B-)

Send them clothes with funny slogans. Polish kids love them.

Hahaha, the Polish sense of humor is a strong one! So I wouldn't go so far as to say I want to send something THAT suggestive, but to get the jist of what you're saying something that's a bit of a funny graphic tee?

To be honest - kids in Poland wear anything. One of the toughest boys in my school school wears a grey hoodie with a big oldfashioned ad of Pepsi Cola.

I think you're better off picking something that looks awesome than hoping that a label makes it cool.

Branding generally makes clothes more expensive, not necessarily cooler.

Good point. And I'm not trying to buy a tag for a gift, but I was hoping to get them something a little nicer that they would appreciate. Poland is another country, not planet so I'm sure these kids aren't wearing space suits or anything extravagant. Not all the way sure though.

I'm shopping for boys by the way. ....Which leads me to believe, boys are boys and probably won't care took much.

Go to marshalls,if you have them in North carolina,I usually buy stuff there or even costco for gifts:D like tommy shirts,polo shirts for 20/30 bucks(just an example)they cost over 400pln in Poland.Make sure the logo is clearly visible or your gift wont be that much appericiated:)

Thanks everyone! I went shopping today and I bought a bunch of polo stuff! lol Marshalls was a great place - also I don't know if this counts for anything but I bought a bunch of NBA gear for the basketball team they like! Hopefully it all works out, once again thanks for the input. :*

That reminds me, years ago when my sisters were in that teenager/young adult age group, they would help themselves to any tops with visible logos I dared to bring with me when I visited them. I always preferred (and still do) clothes that are feminine/pretty than clothes which are branded and somewhat trendy because of that. I see that markowe ciuchy still rule ;-). And it is true that brands are more expensive in Poland so it is always a very good gift idea. In UK it's all about brands and the same style worn all year round, just yesterday I saw dozens of very young girls wearing fishnets or some other thin tights with denim hotpants, their bum cheeks hanging out and everything - in December!! They wore the same stuff all summer!! It also seems to be the norm wearing shorts and t-shirts no matter what time of year, and you don't get a lot of shorts & t-shirts weather in UK as it is. At least in Poland they dress appropriately for the season and weather.

My friend's daughter has been wearing denim hotpants and t-shirts all through Xmas! Anyone would think we were having a heatwave or something!
Teenage boys over here seem to like Slipknot T-shirts, despite the fact that they were popular years ago! I've seen quite a few girls wearing them too.

Hoodies are still popular with both sexes, but tbh, i don't see Poles generally wearing too much branded stuff. Most stick to jeans and t-shirts.

Kids (and adults too) simply wear Polish brands. At shopping malls about 70-80% of shops are Polish brands, no wonder then!

I noticed that if you browse through small local clothes shops, you can find some knock-off branded items, but that mostly applies to men's clothing. I got this jacket a couple of years ago for maybe 20zl and apparently it has logos of at least 3 different brands on the pockets, the zip etc. I'm oblivious to that kind of stuff but my colleagues pointed it out.


It has been a pretty warm Christmas considering that bit of frost (shock horror haha) at the beginning of December. Still, I think it's inappropriate, desperate and just laughable that young females dress in hotpants all year round like it was normal. It's asking for a bladder infection and all other chill related female problems haha. And I'm not even gonna start on little primary school girls wearing full on make up and provocative clothing...

Why have so many Poles no style?

What i noticed in my few days in Poland was, that so many there dont seem to care what they look like.

Many were fat, many did wear cheap stuff from H&M. Many women are completly not styled. Some people did even smell bad.

Sure that exists in every culture but it appeared more widespread there.

When i compare with myself, my body is most wrathful for me and i always try to make me look best way possible.

In old Greek philosophy our appearance also represents our soul. This can be seen in our mythology as well as in our tales.

I constantly check my looks. In mirrors, mobile phone ect.

Sometimes with curls, sometimes i make my hair straight down.

And then you see people like this:



Honest question...why are they leaving house like this? I know some have better looks than others by DNA but even those ugly ones could do something.

Let's be frank about it. You have never been to Poland yet !
