Just wondering...
Does Poland have an equivalent to Amazon.com?
i wish lol. unless they started a site like that recently and i haven't heard about it yet. there's always Allegro, but that's more like e-bay. there's loads of dvds in Polish i wanna get but sadly they hardly ever release anything good on dvd over there. i would be happy to pay for stuff instead of downloading it illegally...
Yeah.. I asked a friend and he said there is Allegro but as you said it's more like eBay and dare I say a little dodgy?!? I don't know because I have not used it, though once I nearly did to buy some software when I broke my computer in Poland.
I was thinking more of an Amazon approach you know with a guaranteed quality of goods and several delivery options.

i think Empik have a website like that, but they've hardly got anything on stock, it's pretty pathetic lol... this looks ok filmoutlet.pl but it's in Polish. you can collect loyalty points as well.
merlin.pl
empik.com
maybe some more... but there is no one leader like amazon.com .....

can someone list some famous polish websites for online shopping (electronics, household, hobby, clothing). How reliable are these website in terms of delivery times and after sales services? I haven't heard many good words about polish post system so I was wondering if it is worth it since I prefer to purchase online.

Yes it does. Merlin.pl is pretty comparable to amazon, offering the widest range of books on the polish market and just like amazon it started selling other stuff as well. No Market place like amazon has though.
I have just ordered a couple of books form Merlin, I will let you know how that goes, they took the money very quickly :-)

No problems with books sent to PL, UK, IE over the last 5 years.
But shipping abroad seems dear indeed. They do charge for a parcel + additional charge for every single item.
The book arrived 34 hours after ordering, well done Merlin, ohh it has some free coffee as well!!!!!!!!!!

Merged: Polish Website similar to amazon.com?
Hello Everybody:
Please advise me if there is a website from Poland similar to amazon.com. I wanted to buy a wok, from amazon.com, for my cousin in Poland. The wok cost $22 but the shipping charges to Poland was over $100!
I would like to deal with a reputable business in Poland. Jerzy

Have you checked amazon.co.uk? They offer free shipping to Poland on orders over £24. Might be easier for you (as it is all in English).

Do you get preferential treatment? I have to spend 30 quid min. Anyway, it's a good idea. They seem to send a lot of their stuff from a central warehouse in Germany. The last package I got took about four days and came by DHL. No complaints. btw woks are not hard to find here.

I just checked now (i.e. am ordering some books): £25 minimum spend for free Super Saver Delivery to Poland.
I was wondering if ppl who work at the Amazon fulfillment center in Poland (Poznan) have the same issues as ppl in the US? wages , sweat shop, no benefits.. etc. ? I am doing a paper on the exploitation of workers at Amazon abroad regarding . wages in Germany versus Poland/ environmental issues, taxes etc.
