You need internet for any thing decent. Get the net then rather get a Skybox F5s sat box or an Android IPTV box. Maybe you will get something with what the OP is saying am not sure, I am a Brit in Britain.

Hi We haven't got Internet as we are remote etc however want to watch the TV from time to time. So from what's been said I need skybox with matchdd whitecard and with normal sized dish I should pick up a few English language channels. If that's correct that sounds great for us. Thanks

I would make sure you WILL be able to get a signal first. Have you installed your dish with a sat finder so you know the LNB is picking up the sat with a strong enough signal. I am not sure what you could do apart from get something on the lines of a satellite freeview box.

I'll give it a go with a sat signal meter and see what happens. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

in Poland you have no problem with picikn up 28.2
some signals form astra 2a/2b are not accessible ( bbc, itv) but with a small dish you can get a channel 4, at least.

If you can get a decent signal with your dish from Astra 28 then get a used Sky box F3, pretty cheap. You will not need a card just search for FTA TV and Radio channels, BBC, ITV and QVC etc.

Good luck.

A load of crap. ANY simple research will tell you that UK TV is dead on satellite, outside of the UK and north and south.

Internet sites and work-arounds are another matter.

Isolated locations - no cigar, bar a 3 metre circumference dish........ and we are talking a lot of money in today's terms, because the dish business is now top-end and basically old tech.

I watch TV on satellite in the UK from the said Astra 28. If he can get a signal from the same sat then there is no reason why he can not receive BBC etc for free, just like me.

As for dish size, I have 90cm dish that cost 30 quid which is motorised ( motor sold separately ) and apart from one or two sats I can watch world wide TV.

No, because the UK beam signal is centred on.......... the UK. There is some overspill (Norway/ Spain) but not East of Brussels. See the footprint map - leakage has been reduced. This is actually a contravention Of European law on free broadcasting across borders, but TV companies can do as they wish with their own product, and obviously they want to sell it to European Markets in other packages.

Just settle for internet TV - or if as the OP says, he lives in the countryside, accept that not everywhere is perfect in every way.

I don't live there, I am in the UK like. I was only going by what the OP stated when he said he could watch UK tv in Poland.

Looks like he is shafted then.

I can not understand why anyone would move to Poland and then want to watch English programs I go there as my wives family come from Gliwice and the night life and just trying to mix to pick up the language is far more interesting that watch crap dispensed by the lying scum at the BBC. Most Polish people love it when you try to fit into their culture and will understand and keep you. I speak about 6 words and 12 sentences and I love the country. So mate grow some balls and forget crap TV and try learning something.

You should not tell people how they should behave. You have no right to do this. If someone wants to watch UK TV in Poland it is their choice and they have a right to do this.

People should not be forced to copy the behaviour of other people only because the others think that this behaviour is the only one that is right and acceptable and anything else is wrong.

My God, I have a twin out there! That sounds exactly like something I would say. Telewizor to ołtarz diabła (the television set is the altar of the devil).

UK & Irish tv is straightforward in Poland if you have decent internet and a solid provider of content ( not the content streamed from free or strange websites that will give you problems). A few providers have a good history , most come from working in the Spanish markets where literally the most UK/Irish live and have 40 + dealers who will supply 200000 of them. One of these businesses operate in Poland and will provide at least 14 ( maybe 28 days) free trial or 100% money back. The have at least 140 Tv channels+ radio+ films and box sets!! I have used them in Poland and Spain ( and USA/Hong Kong) and never had a problem in 4 years! Very knowledgeable people and decent to deal with. Ask and I will give their tel number.
