Driving license from Holland. Is it valid in Poland after 6 months?

Hi,

I got my driving license now already for almost one year and I get it from Holland.
I'm going to move here to Poland, do I need to change my driver license after 6 months or not?
If yes, is it hard to make it and how?

No I don't think so. Both countries are within the EU so your dutch license is just as valid here in Poland.

Your Dutch licence is valid until the date it expires.

What will I need to do, I have a American driving license, and will be moving to Poland in late May? Can I use a international driving license? If yes, for how long? What will I have to do to get a Polish driving license?

Yes. For as long as it is valid. After that you either need to get a new one (which might be tricky, depending on your state). To get a Polish licence you'll need to pass the Polish driving licence theory test and (possibly) the practical driving test (the former can be taken in English but the latter will require the assistance of a sworn interpreter).

Thank you. And when my license expires, how do I request a new one? Do I also need to do a test? (EU)

Sorry Michele but I don't know anything about renewing Dutch driving licences, other than it may well be problematic if you don't have an address in Holland.

Seems like rules have changes quite recently:

euronews.com/2013/01/18/europe-european-driving-license-new-uninion-transport/

Assuming your current Dutch driving license is of appropriate format:

"If you move to another EU Member State, in principle, you do not need to exchange your driving licence for a local one since all driving licences are mutually recognised within the EU.

However, if you move to another EU country and establish your residence there, you will need to exchange your licence for a local one once it expires."

just a few years back, the rule was that you had to exchange your driving license between 6 month and 1 (or 1.5) years after moving to a another EU country permanently.

Nothing new there.

The problem that Brits are having in Poland is that the new style licenses are in two parts and while the license part doesn't expire until one's 70th birthday, the photo-card element expires every ten years. The DVLA won't renew photo-card elements for people who have no address in the UK but the Polish authorities won't allow a person to convert a UK license to a Polish license unless the photo-card element is valid.

This question already popped up a few times..so here is the relevant link:

I am very glad I have a Belgian license which does not expire.
