Changing groszy coins into real money in Poland

We have at home - I guess - a few kilos of Polish change...1 gr, 5 gr.... Is it possible to change them at the NBP into real money = banknotes?

None of my Polish friends can answer this one...

Take them to your bank and deposit them in your account. That's what I do, and I've never had a problem with it.

I also collect change in 2 piggy banks for 11 years andb 2 years back I cashed my 2&5 zloty for over 22 k pln and little change for over 1200 pln.i put them in suitcase in 2 diff canvas bags and Citibank behind swietosiska has the machine to count change.i left it with them and gave them my acct number and they credited the money to my account in couple of hrs.you can trust them as usually three are 3 people all the time with your money till its counted.they also gave me some odd coins like euros and other currencies I had mixed among them.so call Citibank handlowy and they can help u for sure.

So can I take the small change unsorted to the bank in a plastic bag just like that??

Yep. No problem with that. They have a machine for counting coins. You don't even have to sort them or anything. They just pur the whole mess into the hopper and the machine sorts and counts them. It takes only a few minutes.

Like I said, they are going to be more friendly about it if you have an account at that bank. If you do not have a bank account, have a Polish friend take the coins to their bank for you.

Yes in Warsaw Citibank handlowy,call them first and ask them also before u go 800 22 46 53 or 22 692 2484.they sent me to the branch behind swietosiska,where they took my change and gave credit to my account for the same amount

Sorry for this little "absurd" question but I have a bag of groszes(coin). Many people say different things about it. What is your suggestion? What is the best and easiest way to exchange these coins to Zloty?

No good question my wife has gathered sacks full of them would be nice to get rid.

Last year I gave them to the priest for the parish church roof, but i don't think he was impressed with all the change.

The lady at the bank is a bit scary, not sure I could handle all the huffing and puffing as she counts out a kilo's worth of groszy.

There are plenty of beggars in Polish cities, particularly Warsaw. Why not give the coins to them?
