If i drive from my farm to the local town which is 17 kms away there are about 15 places where the wild piggies and deer cross the road , i know where all these places are , but of course they can leap out of the forest almost anywhere....

I drive slow enough to spot their glowing eyes at the roadside , and in five years i have not hit any of them apart from a raccoon that hurtled out of a bush into the front wheel of my Harley , stunning itself for a few moments...

A few years back a German friend of mine had a large wild boar run into the path of his Harley....the wild piggie survived...my friend did not...

Does insurance cover the cost of hitting wild animals?

Is eating roadkill legal?

Did your brother take the boar home to eat it?

Unlikely looking at the car which had the accident (no offense just an observation).

Is eating roadkill legal?

Did your brother take the boar home to eat it?

I've hit deers before with my car and insurance paid for it.

Is eating roadkill legal?

Over here it is. One cop asked me if I wanted the dead body. If they're fresh sometimes they'll get taken to food banks. But our system-sucking ingrates sometimes turn their nose up at eating such; they prefer top grade steak.

Did your brother take the boar home to eat it?

I didn't.
One I hit on my way to a party on Christmas Eve. All my friends said I'd killed Rudolph. :(

Why dzik wanted to ram a car?

So cute. :)

Doesn't it have to be checked for rabies first?

I don't know just what the procedure is. I think maybe deers don't get rabies. And hunters don't check their kills, right?

Deer don,t carry rabies as far as i know...

They do. They are supposed to, in Poland. That's the law. You just take your kill to the nearest vet.

Sorry, it was boar I was thinking of. However, I've been warned about eating wild fruit without washing it cos of possible animal contamination, so maybe deer carry other things.

I thought hunters did have to check their kill cos they have a limit on what they can kill (but maybe I've been misinformed).

The main potential carriers of rabies in Poland are foxes , raccons , and badgers , these animals can in turn affect dogs and cats and even cattle...

Deer and wild boar are not a problem..

I've a buddy here who did the same last year and he strapped the boar to the roof brought it to a butcher he knew & we were eating wonderful wild boar not too long after.

insurance should pay out for the damage though

I've never heard this over here. But maybe because I'm not a hunter.

maybe deer carry other things.

Deers carry Lyme Disease here but I don't think it can be passed from animal to person. Deer ticks carry it.
