Where'd you get that idea from?
I haven't heard of any here but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Ireland have gone back to the dark ages and have recently introduced Blasphemy laws.
The ramification are worse, as other religious groups are quoting the Irish laws and approaching the U.N. with them...

The term blasphemy law is not used but I think Poland has some law prohibitng offending religious sentiments. Dunno what the penalty is or whether it is enforced.

ah the irish thing it just there to cover their arses, it hasn't been enforced and judges will be allowed to interpret the law as they see fitting.

It's not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

The truth behind the passing of the law in ireland is so that extreme Islamists wont be able to operate in ireland anymore, as they have been in the past. Many money generating operations for the likes of Al-Queda were taking place in Ireland and the cops have been quietly taking them down over th epast few years, you dont really hear about it but it is happening for sure..

most Irish people dont give a rats ass about religion anymore, the church went form have a 98% population attendence to now only having about 10%

Actually, if you look at the link I posted, the opposite is true.

Now Pakistan and a group of Islamic states (the Organization of Islamic Conference, or "OIC") is using the language of the Irish blasphemy law to press the UN Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of Complementary Standards to recognize the so-called "defamation of religions" as a new normative principle of international law.

It's a farce, it makes Ireland look like a stupid and backward country.
Unless you can prove how it "cover their arses"?

That doesn't mean a republic is secular though....

the cross loonies it is

Since when are all Christian's (the majority of Poland) loonies? Albeit maybe be the overtly ones who are bible thumpers. But are most Poles if any like this?

Actually there is a law for blasphemy in a sense:
"Kto obraża uczucia religijne innych osób, znieważając publicznie przedmiot czci religijnej lub miejsce przeznaczone do publicznego wykonywania obrzędów religijnych, podlega grzywnie, karze ograniczenia wolności albo pozbawienia wolności do lat 2."

which means more or less:
who offends religious feelings of others can be fined and/or putted in jail for up to two years.

But in real live it is rarely used... The most scandalic in recent years was probably a case of young female aritist who in late 2001 putted pictures of man genitals on the cross. After 8 (yes eight) years of a case in various courts she was finally exculpated from a charge. Court of a higher instance decided that she didn't wanted to offend anyone, case closed...
