Every fcuking Sunday i swear theyre just waiting for me outside Biedronka, it happened again today i parked my car near the road as i prefer to park where no other cars are to avoid them smacking their doors into my paintwork when they open them.
Anyway when i cam back the Kurwa boys were right there, all chatting nicely shaking my hand etc some thought i was German and they were speaking crap German to me. I say look heres 1 PLN and you can take the trolley back and have the 2 PLN for that. They clocked the cigarettes i had in the car and start asking for a pappirosi, im OK yes here you go. Talk about give a hand and they want the entire fcuking arm then thay start asking for beer which i was unloading from the trolley into my car boot. I draw the line right there.
Last week i gave some dude 5 PLN i think theyre waiting for me now every week.
I dont mind helping people out but this is taking the ****.
I had the same. There was a guy out front who harasses everyone. He wants money for beer and he tries to tell them it's for some bread and water. Yeah, pull the Jesus card on me why don't ya ;) I bet he wishes he could turn water into wine (jabol). One time I just went into the shop and bought him a bottle of water as that's what he asked for. He didn't know what to say.
Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. In Scotland, we say 'set a sprat to catch a mackerel'. Feckers here don't even set the sprat, they go straight for the mackerel, then the caviar.
Last week i got kind of angry and wished afterwards that i had filmed the whole thing for PF, but i didnt i had plain forgotten about that till today but as i was coming back to my car they were waiting two of them and different. I have to say the beggers tend to come out on Sunday here, i always give them somthing as i feel sorry for them.
In England Herion addicts are the beggers here its skint individuals and Romanians.
There's a guy here who stands with a sign in front of him, dressed in a suit. Strange, he doesn't look like a beggar at all. A bit like the drug dealer I'm watching at the moment in Danny Dyer's program. He is posh and innocuous.
Atleast theyre honest. Honest beggers!! i know of many beggers that come to you and say i just want money for beer, im not homeless, not hungry, dont need cash for my children etc just a few Zloty for beer. For a long time in Poland this was considered cool and many people gave money thinking well atleast hes honest, im thinking what!!!! Thats even worse, just fcuk off back to the traditional begging methods. Id prefer that personally but thats the Polish attitude because every fcukers conning everyone all the time an honest begger deserves respect.
!!Respect a begger but not a well dressed business associate!! Parter even!!
We should employ these honest beggers on the credibility that they used to beg honestly.
I agree, in California panhandlers can be fined over $400.00
In Riverside County a man who had been begging on a daily basis, pretended to be homeless. It turned out he was later seen driving a luxury car & had deposits for that year close to $70,000 in his bank account. Doesn't sound too homeless to me; quite a con artist actually.
Greece. Here the beggars say,''my friend give e some money to buy ticket for the train,I have 4 euro and the ticket costs 5 euro.Or they tell you give me money to buy some food while they actually collect money to buy drugs.
In the train one day I heard someone saying please I want money just to get some sleep,I am not a narcoman. In the argo of narcomans ''sleeps'' are drugs like hypnosedon but people in the train heard sb begging to get some sleep.
When nobody gave him money he screamed:''Are you human?Look at these humans.Pigs.Pigs.At the end they will call me a junkie.''
I was in London some time ago, at Victoria Coach station this guy approaches us and he says exactly that, he needs some money for the ticket because he is missing 2 pounds. I was pretty sceptic but my gf gave him the money and we moved along. We came back after something like 2 hours. He was still there, now asking some other couple for the same thing. I rushed in and told them that the guy is a con. He said he is now trying to get the money for his girlfriends ticket.. Afterwards I heard multiple times that it's a pretty often sight at that station - dodgy people conning others with the "ticket scenerio"..
My girlfriend was really frightened after what I've done, she though that this guy can come after us and stab me or something like that.. I guess you probably shouldn't do stupid things when you're on unfamiliar turf.
I've never seen such a situation in Poland. Most beggers you can stumble upon are usually gypsies or old drunkards.
Fair point! There is one guy who bullies people so I thought I'd turn the tables on him and test his metal. He wasn't so hard after I remonstrated with him.
You are right to say that most Polish beggars are harmless. They usually accept no as an answer and don't pester you too much. They will accept warning signs.
There are those that can irritate you but they are younger. You can be sitting on the rynek and they come up to you and just stare you down. The ones who stand with their hand out are the most frustrating. You turn away and they move round. The staff don't escort them off the premises but they should.
If no-one gave money to beggars they wouldnt be there. Basic economic fact.
Anyone who thinks they are helping beggars by giving them money needs to give themselves a shake. You are condemning them to a life on the street, a downwards spiral propelled by the "nice" people who give money and keep the whole thing going.
Consider for a moment what would happen if no-one gave beggars any money.
1.They would cease to beg on the streets - eradicating a public nuisance.
2. Those who are not homeless would filter back into society.
3. Those who are homeless would either seek help- govt, charity, church or family OR commit crime to fund themselves.
If there are resources put into help and crimefighting this problem neednt exist.
That said it would prevent the do-gooders feeling like they save humanity every day...
Good point esek. By all means, give to noble charities like those for the blind, children and animals but these lowlifes just punt it up the wall on booze. They don't appreciate it, rather they come to disrespect you if you don't give when they expect you to.
You don't owe them anything. It's a government problem and not for individuals to solve.
becuase of those beggers i almost can't smoke while im taking a walk ! the moment you light it you don't know from where they're comming and before you finish one cig you can be asked for one like 5 times :)
I was talking about con guys with the "ticket" trick.. not about begging in general...
There are those that can irritate you but they are younger.
Yeah, I know what you mean, there are those younger bloked, they look like metalheads or punks. Usually collecting money for "cheap wine" they can be pretty intrusive..
I remember one beggar who actually was made rich by begging. He owned 7 apartments I think till some gangster guy suffocated him after making him sign in his will that the gangster would take all the property.
The fast food places in Gliwice are the favourite hawking spots for them. McD's or Złoty Kurczak tend to attract nyaffs who stand there with their pouting faces. What pis*es me off is the ineptitude of the staff. They stand by and do nothing. I've paid to eat in their establishment, they should be ushering them out.
Trust me that happens every day here in the trainstations of the US, and when I went to Europe.
Anyway Wroclaw Boy, I guess karma (do good and good will come back to you) has failed you. lol.
But honestly, if you want to be good give your money to a charity. You can find them at churches, schools, hospitals, all for great causes. They help diseased people, homeless people, starving children, those in need of shelter or and education. If these beggars were for real then they'd be funded for by those institutions. Just ignore them, and call the police if they become a hassle.
I had a guy that got on my bus every few weeks with a different story...the last time he did it was at a different point on the route, as he usually does it in the town centre - he said his sister had been killed (there was the usual bunch of flowers by the road side) and he needed money to get to the hospital to see her body!! I knew the junky piece of $hite was lying...so I just ignored him (as usual) well so did everyone else on the bus! (fook knows why these drivers let him on)...
Then...An old lady in her late 70s opened her purse and gave him some money...WELL, I lost my rag and told him he was the worst scum on this earth and for him to give the money back to the lady (I didnt sware as I do have a high level of respect for the elderly)...He was gob smacked and got of the bus! You know I was the only person on the bus to say anything...Men on the bus watched him take money off this old lady!
Not seen the tw*t since on that route!
Moral of the story is dont give to those who ask...
