Ok, so its around the corner now before my move to Poland in September. What's the list of things to do when I arrive? I already have a house, so thats that done. Do I apply for a pesel number first (So I can open bank account etc). Seems to be so many stories floating around and even my Polish family are a little confused to what i need to do.

Do i need a resident permit, even though im from the EU and my wife is Polish? Ive lived in other EU countries before and had no major problems, but this move to Poland seems a little more complicated.

As far as I know;
You don't need a permit to live and work in Poland in this case.
However, you haveto register your residence and obtain a certificate of registration of residence (if you plan to stay in Poland longer than 3 months).
Once you have lived in Poland for longer than 5 years uninterrupted you will earn the right for permanent residence status.
Check triple W dot USDC dot com dot pl for more info. It is available in English.

Without a residence permit and a PESEL you will get nowhere in Poland. You won't get a Karta Pobytu and that also will cause problems, because otherwise you have to carry your passport with you everywhere.

Working permits for EU citizens are not necessary.

You also will need a NIP (Tax Identication Number). This you get from the local tax office, but once again, you will need to get a PESEL before that.

Thats a great help and makes things a little clearer. I don't think i'm far from the government buildings that deal with these things (Sucha Beskidzka, malopolska).

What documents would I need for the pesel? Birth cert, Passport etc etc?

And would my Irish tax documents be any good/use there?

You're not far,The offices are on the main high street on the left hand side (that's if you come in from Makow Podhalanski side of town)

What will you be doing there to earn some Zl? I have been going to Skawica ( a 10 min drive away) for nearly 8 years and I think I would hang myself as not a lot to do if you want a night out.There was a good bar by the rail crossing where they hold the market and a rough and ready bar on the corner near the square but they had gone last time I was there at Christmas.

No, currently NIP is only for firms. Normal people don't have NIP numbers since 1st January 2012.

Pesel is starting point for having bank account, mobile phone, contract, tax office etc.. For pesel you need karta Pobytu. I got karta first time for 3 years. I needed to show them, where i am registered/address, passport and work contract.
