I am now in CR overwhelmed by quantities of czech pivo really changing all perceptions after the greek frappe. Is polish culture dependent on piwo the same way or wodka prevails dramatically?

I'd say a beer after work is normal here. It has a broader social appeal than vodka where a bed near you is recommended. I would drink vodka with my landlord, for example, but never anything too strong at a pub. Vodka can screw you up in this heat. I've had 3 kieliszki shots tonight and that's enough for me. In winter I can handle a fair bit more but I don't go in for it really.

Beer is really on the up here in Poland.

Hm Piwo yes it depends... after work beer, but I would say Vodka is more on the up in Poland, because it is our national drink. When a guest comes to visit, you are invited, birthday, on Christmas, new year... also after work or before sleep, Vodka! Vodka, definitely

It's that way in Poland too. Vodka also but not exclusively. It was a drink for warming up farmers :) Vodka is more a round-the-table drink to allow folk to let out their woes and sorrows :)

Why you changed your profile informations from Japan to absolute Russian now?!
OK, whether you are from Russia, Japan or wherever, here a little information (quote from a book):
Early 16th Century was the first vodka distilled from grain. It is unclear whether this happened in Poland or Russia. Both countries claim the first vodka for themselves, however, some sources put the start of vodka production already on the 15th Century. The first official record of the production of vodka is 1405 from Sandomierz, in the former Kingdom of Poland.

Yes,their liver does not contain the enzyme which catabolizes ethanol and thus they can be drunk after one glass of drink.
I guess polish enzymes work in high octanes and do these marvels of consumption.
As for piwo I am sure some cities are more enjoyable under piwo while some others under vodka. It seems the polish builders had different tastes according to each case.
