First being unlawful should get an "negative" image (with the help of he media), so that people get a bad feeling doing that and second install a sharp, smart agency hunting down black marketeers, tax evaders, bribers everywhere and punish them hard, so that they start to fear doing that.

PS: Just a few days back a second CD full of names with big time tax evaders resurfaced in Germany...they are sh*itting their pants now :)

Take it up with the corporation; they have their procedures in place which the authorized dealer has to adhere to. Don’t you know that big part of the profits generated by those corporations are in support not in sales. Why have a fit and a gripe against people who simply follow the procedure and instruction given to them by the corporate. Besides you fixed it yourself so what’s the problem? If you don’t like the quote you have a right to take your business somewhere else or do it yourself, you didn’t pay them good for you but even if you did it would have been out of your own free will so haw is that stealing?; therefore no relation to the topic of this thread.

Overcharging is stealing in my books too but that doesn’t make it a crime when the price is set by a big bad corporation for any given product or service, as long as it’s done through their authorized dealers, you can always do it on the cheap and pay some student to do it for you if you’re not savvy enough to do it yourself.


Grow up BB; every politician is on the take in one form or another no matter what country they happen to hail from. It’s in no one’s interest to change the way the things are done. This problem had been with us since time in memorial still is, so what makes you think it will be any different in the future or that you and I can do anything about it. When you don’t hear about corruption it’s simply because it’s kept under tight lid.

It has a significant amount of them, for economic reasons, as well as many people who pull of dodgy scams ( be careful with real estate ).

Midas has a good point. Specific kinds of crime happen, e.g car theft. The Poles were notorious for that back in the day. The Japanese for umbrellas and bicycles. However, it doesn't make either a nation of thieves. I don't imagine there being too much theft here in Poland.

for the most part it's all hearsay. it's what u hear from friends of friends etc.

They were notorious for that amongst Germans and Scots, Wrocław. My wife is just describing a stealing story to me. She believes Poles are awful for this. Also, they are still Poles, Wrocław. Mafia or otherwise. 'The Poles' is a FAR more diverse term than anyone here seems to conceive.

I could relate a hit that took place in this neigbourhood some years ago. All related to car crime and Polish mafia. For obvious reasons, nuff said on that.

The bad guys would follow a car straight from the showroom... wait for the driver to park... then once the driver had entered his house... another set of keys was used to take the car.

About the time that this was rife many people here were buying steering locks etc.

Sometimes, if you knew who had taken the car u could buy it back for the cost of the parts.

It all seemed to come to an end not because the police had a clamp down, but because of new wealth and the flood of mid to high end motors.

But I knew that this person was me and that's enough.
