Polish people and racism.

Just want to say that English doesn't sound like German even if both are classified as Germanic languages.

Yeah well...swabian doesn't sound like east-frisian either...nor does frankish sound like bavarian etc. etc. etc....
(Nor does sound the berliner dialect as anyone else...in a class of its own!)

Only hundred years back the different regional Germans learned only high-german with their entry to the schools, with 6 years...till then nearly unable to understand each other.

Says a Pole! *rolls eyes*
At least we have some vowels to avoid spitting....:)

There are plenty of vowels in Polish - a, ą, e, ę, i, o, ó, u, y... not much spitting going on (unless you suffer from a speech impediment...).

I bet you can't avoid spitting while saying "Ich liebe dich" - come on!!! Try and say it without spitting on sb's face. Not something I would consider extremely romantic!!! :P

From under which rock did you crawl from?
And why should I say these words to such a Hackfresse like yours???
Which poor sod would want to be romantic to YOU?

hahahaha

how witty!

An American guy walked into a bar and said to the barman, "Would you like to hear a Polish joke?" The barman replied, "Okay! But I must warn you that I’m polish, most of my customers are Polish and the men on the door are Polish." So the American guy said, "Alright, I’ll tell it slowly!"

Hey, there's no need to get angry! I'm just teasing you a bit and that's all! You Germans are so stuck-up!!!
BTW, I went to Berlin twice and I really enjoyed it! :) And I met some nice and helpful German people there! ;)

Anyway... it's not nice to call sb a shitface. I don't think I deserved it.

And what the heck has that all to do with the topic?

I had a nice argument with EbonyandIvory...and then it got downhill thanks to you and others...great! :(

How is your knowledge about european history I now have to ask?

It's fine, thank you. My point is that diversity and differences in thought only add to the dialogue and general culture. The English Language is a perfect example of this. As is Jazz music. Or Polish food. They are all combinations of other cultures and tastes.

I have nothing against other cultures and tastes...that is all well and fine and of course they should all enrich each other. When they stay at home, that is!

History is a great example: Egypt was a great super power, Mesopotamia is called as the cradle of civilization, even the Ottoman Empire has it's going....

But the penguins (women in full body burkhas) in Neukölln do NOTHING of that sort, believe me!

German language is extremely structured. They got their syntax from ancient Greeks. It is the same syntax.Anyway in german there is only one word for one meaning like in ancient greek while in english one word can have several meanings.

So german is much more difficult because you have to learn each specific word for each individual meaning(most complex words and derivatives) and the Germans do not help you with that very eagerly.

The Germans also do not teach their syntax because they take it for granted while even ancient Greeks understood the importance of teaching syntax.

Huh?

What do you think the Goethe-instituts world wide are for? :)

Now I'm convinced only British people understand irony and can laugh at themselves!
I made a casual comment on your language which IS harsh and sounds bad in most circumstances (apart from when it's used by generals to give orders to their soldiers) and you attacked me personally. I've got nothing against you as a person because I don't know you and you shouldn't call me names just because you feel insecure about your own language and can't accept a few jokes about it.

Was that an apology? :)

language which IS harsh and sounds bad....you feel insecure about your own language and can't accept a few jokes about it.

You don't know nothing! Either of me nor of German.
German poetry belongs to the most important treasures of mankind...
You speak of stereotypes and accuse me of many things.
Girl...YOU came in unasked and started that all...take it or get lost!

I know what I write. You tend to undervalue syntax and teach grammar most of the time which leads foreigners to plenty of mistakes. Can you imagine a Turk trying to learn german while his language does not provide him any notion of some complex syntax?

I've said this before, I will choose not to colonize my mind and put people into boxes, areas, or ghettos.

In Jova's defense, German is a horribly guttural language. There is a reason Mozart avoided writing operas in German (he wrote on in Turkish, by the way, BB). Plus, if her avatar is to be believed she is far from a "Hackfresse."

However, Bratwurst Boy, it's clear we don't agree, but I'm not sure that was the point. I have a healthy respect for your point of view even if I don't agree with it. There have always been minds like yours and their always will be. I'm sure the perfect solution can be found somewhere between you and I.

No need...they do it themselves...without any force...

There is a reason Mozart avoided writing operas in German

The same reason why so many sing today in english?
Because it's fashionable and a good way to be distributed world wide?

I'm sure the perfect solution can be found somewhere between you and I.

I agree!

The german language rocks!

come on. everyone knows how ugly german is. they talk like there's a problem with their throats. sometimes talk like "gkgkkkghh". israelis and arabs have the same ugly throat stuff. if you ask me best languages are turkish and greek. of course the speaker is very important, turks in germany talk turkish in very ugly way, because they are effected by german language, maybe it's why you think turkish is crap. polish and italian are nice too.

You've got to be kidding...Poles and Turks denigrating german...the joke of the year!

polish and italian are nice too.

I think the slavic and latin languages sound the best also. They are so free flowing that it sounds like we are speaking a million words a minute to someone who doesn't speak Polish or Spanish.

Said by a boy whose country used to attack its neighbours in order to dominate the whole continent (and, why not, the entire world) :)

Said by a boy whose country has its own emigration name : Polonia :)

Please try to restrain your aggression next time though

He must be frustrated, ya know... ;P

german is much more difficult because you have to learn each specific word for each individual meaning

+ a difficult grammar

lol in fact you must be kidding :D german is obviously rude language. talking like arguing. even napeleon said something like "i would talk french with my lover, turkish with my soldier, german with my dog"

Your point being???

lol in fact you must be kidding :D german is obviously rude language. talking like arguing. even napeleon said something like "i would talk french with my lover, turkish with my soldier, german with my dog"

First, it was Friedrich der Große!
(And he surely wouldn't talk turkish with his prussian soldiers!)
Second he meant his horse - german horses being a kind of Über-horses you must know!

Third, Turks are just to stupid to learn german....even the turks in the third generation don't grasp it - that is not the germans fault...must be an intelligence thingie..our horses understand better german than turks!

they can't learn german or they don't learn? maybe they don't wish to learn really. maybe you guys treat them such badly that they don't want to hear german language anymore.(or maybe they don't want to hear because of it's too ugly:). and ask a linguist if you want then you can learn turkish is one of the hardest languages to learn. by the way yes you are right german should be talked with only horses please.

Why do you always try to distort facts? You try to show arabic inventions as being turkish and always give a false story and a false explanation.Guys, you should know.Turks have an average IQ of 91.Is it possible to con Europeans who have an IQ of 105?Very difficult.

Well, let's see.Yes,Mozart had problem with german language and all composers had till Wagner because all the operas were written in italian at that time which was considered more delicate, had a long tradition in opera and was thought to be the only language suitable for this kind of music.

To distort this and tell that Mozart prefered the turkish language for aesthetic reasons is grotesque. After all do you know any opera work written to be sang in turkish?

Mozart simply saw some ottoman musicians playing a rhythm in the palace of Habsburg, liked the rhythm and wrote one composition, the turkish march. That's all.He did not play baglama or write cifteteli.
