Today we know they are fallacies.

And turnning everything on its head, underminnig time-honorued traditon and ti'ried and tested morality, redefining deviation, marriage and the family may also turn out to be just another fallacious passing fashion which may produce dire consequences to all society..

And turnning everything on its head

Strange that there are some 'faiths' which regard any disagreement as an insult.

Calling somebodys beliefs a fallacies or fables is a sign of ignorance and chamstwo.

'Beliefs' in something you refuse to provide proofs of yet preach to others is both of those.

You can't tun the clock back

Indeed, all of history's best-known monsters invoked the future and claimed what they were doing was 'bold', 'dynamic', 'forward-looking' and even 'progressive'. Adolf had promised a '1,000-year Reich', whilst Stalin called Soviet-style communism 'the wave of the future'. It lasted some 7 decades. Hitler's fiasco luckily ended in 12 years. How much longer will the permissive revolution endure and how many victims will it take with it before collapsing is something nobody knows at present!

You know someone has lost an argument on the nternet when they mention that particular regime. Especially when they are reactionary and opposed not only to any kind of innovation but also to natural change.

Faith is not about proof :)
You remind me of Thomas the Disciple a bit.
Jon get over it, you have lost the arguement and started to insult my religion, which is insulting, and not very nice.

Opinion is subjective - objective facts are all that matters.

Indeed, it is hard not to agree with what you have written. However if you are implying that you are embodied objectivity in lieu of facts I feel compelled to say that the actual state of things indicate otherwise.

Objective is a statement that is verifiable by looking up facts or performing mathematical calculations.
We have been talking about people's views and feelings and those are not scientifically verifiable.

objectivity in lieu of facts

The two are inseparable.

views and feelings and those are not scientifically verifiable.

And this is the whole point. People can feel it's cold when in fact it's 50c - that doesn't mean others have to put a cardigan on.

And this is the whole point.

The point is that is only your opinion not a verifiable fact.

Oh dear - it seems you have a bad case of lastworditis. The fact is - and it is a fact - that a 'belief' is only that unless supported by proof. Some people believe in Santa Claus. That doesn't mean he actually climbs down the chimney. Mr Bashobora can do his stuff. If people feel better, that's great for them. Just as long as they don't expect people who don't pretend there are gods to live by their rules.

Faith is not about proof :)

Keep them coming - we need a laugh.

The fact is there is no universal argeement on what constitutes facts. Today's so-called 'objective' facts may be dismissed as fallacies tomorrow

Nonsense.
Facts are proved by evidence.

Faith is not about proof :)

That's the problem, blind devotion to the illogical.

Some quotes for you to mull over:
"Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right."

"The existence of God is not subjective. He either exists or he doesn't. It's not a matter of opinion. You can have your own opinions. But you can't have your own facts."

"Science seeks the truth. And it does not discriminate. For better or worse it finds things out. Science is humble. It knows what it knows and it knows what it doesn't know. It bases its conclusions and beliefs on hard evidence -- evidence that is constantly updated and upgraded. It doesn't get offended when new facts come along. It embraces the body of knowledge. It doesn't hold on to medieval practices because they are tradition."

You know smurf, there is something that is called a devine science, a theory of a Grand Creator that have designed everything around us and us according to his plan. About 95% of the World believe that a Creator exists. Only a small minority believe otherwise. Theer clear facts that God exists, but atheists, such as you, choose not to agree with them. Shroud of Turin, an experience of the Holy Communion or Confession is mindblowing for a reason. I still remember my baptisment pretty clearly, it wasnt a long time ago, since I wasnt christened at birth, and i can swear that I felt something, that something.

"Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right."

Okay, I agree, but you should also take in consideration, that not everything you believe in is right!

I have read quite a lot of your religion-related posts, and I can see clearly tohat you are unfortunately too blinded by your hatred towards the Church, your inner being has been secularized. You don't believe in a religion as a link with God, you think that it is an organization, or even worse, an institution made for profit. In your mind, it seems, there is no place foor God, but only for money.

I hope that someday you will open your eyes, even a bit, I am not tallking about being a full blown Catholic, like me or Polonius, even a slight change to an agnostic would be a good thing. For now I can see your future in dark colours, indeed.

Here's a website for you, some basic facts, that can be accepted or denyed, for the Existence of a Devine Creator:

everystudent.com/features/isthere.html

I will pray for in my evening prayers today, so dont worry, and keep your hopes up ;)
Kind Regards

Shroud of Turin

The shroud of Turin was radiocarbon-dated to the Middle Ages.

In 1968, three laboratories (Universities of Oxford, Arizona, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) each independently performed radiocarbon testing on samples of the shroud and all three came to the same conclusion: the samples dated from between 1260 and 1390.

Yet the religion stays the same orm more than 2000 years!

No it doesn't.
Never heard of the Reformation for example?
What stays is the fact that the Vatican is one of the few theocratic states in the world.

Dont u understand written english?
They did those three experiments, they did it again with some newer method and the myth has been abolished, i think that you havent even checked the source. Hence I am closing that disscussions since you are not even willing to open your mindset abit. Shame!

Catholic & Orthodox religions stayed the same.

What stays is the fact that the Vatican is one of the few theocratic states in the world.
