I'm romanian, and i never heard a joke about polish people(excluding the one in this thread). If polish people cry about some jokes here and there, then what should the sweedish/jewish people do?

A joke is a joke, don't tell me you never in your life told a joke about another nationality. Thought so. So don't be so quick to throw any stones when you have done the same thing too.

The "dumb Pollack" stereoptype, Pollack jokes, etc. are said to have originated because of the ignorance and illeteracy of the Polish immgrant masses that started arriving in America in the latter half of teh 19th century. But immigrants from Slovakia, Lithuania, Hungary, Ukraine, Croatia, Romania, Belarus, Serbia and other such places were not exactly aristorcrats. In fact, many of them were even poorer and less educated than the Poles. Of course, all ethnic groups have at one time or other have had the stuffing taken out of them over the years in America -- Bohunks, Hillbillies (ignroant WASPs), Scandihoovians, Kikes, Wops, Spics, Jigaboos, Cannucks, Krauts, Micks, etc., etc., but all those jokes came and went. The Pollack ones have displayed unusual durabiltiy. Anyone know why?

Because you have powerful forces in Hollywood and the TV media (Leftist media) that have a special hatred for Polish people that they do not have for other ethnic groups.

No ethnic group has been as maliciously attacked by the power of TV Networks like Polish people have been.

The ORIGIN OF POLISH JOKES (subhuman intelligence jokes) in the US, is NBC-TV.

Before NBC-TV launched them around 1965, the only jokes about Polish people were kielbasa or pierogi jokes.

AFTER some months of NBC-TV INTRODUCING (and pushing) these hate jokes about Polish people into the public in the 60's, Polish jokes all of a sudden BECAME "popular" in the 60's.

For many years after that, NBC-TV and then the other networks would be incorporating these racist Polish jokes into their TV shows because of their hatred for Polish people.

I have no reason for doubting you. NBC is a despicable, useless network.

After many years of NBC-TV and Hollywood attacking Polish people with these ethnic slurs, it lead to violence and hatred against Polish Americans in the 60's and 70's.

Would you tell Jewish people to laugh at jokes that aren't true, like jokes that portray Jews as being ugly and evil people?

Being able to laugh at one self is an endearing quality.

I've heard many of them, but for some reason it's the worst one that I remember: this one is from the communist times of shortages.

99% of the non-Poles who tell Poles that they should be able to "laugh at themselves with Subhuman intelligence jokes" are the first to complain if a degrading joke is made about their ethnic background.

You shouldn't take jokes seriously, that's why they're called jokes.

Most jokes about the Polish were also made up by the Polish themselves, so I don't really see what the big problem is here? You should hear some Belgium jokes about the Dutch, I can laugh about those!

I've heard a few Polish jokes from some of my Polish colleagues aswell, and I can honestly tell you that I've never even heard a Polish joke before they told me!

These jokes were 'popular' around 30 years ago, but I haven't heard them at all in the past decade. When I was growing up the big ethnic jokes were either Swedish jokes or Bohemian jokes. Perhaps that was a regional thing.

Back in the 70's and 80's when someone attempted to tell me a Polish joke I cut them off and asked, "let me hear this same joke but with your ethnic background". That put things in perspective.

If I didn't like the person about to tell the joke I would intentionally look disdainful and tell the 'humorist' that if the joke was insulting and not funny that it would be unfortunate for the teller. Of course I had a bit of a reputation as a 'tough guy' back then and perhaps it was easier for me to make this kind of comment.

Um, Arien, there is something called Polish humor which is funny as contrasted to the Polish joke which is meant to insult.

No it's an everywhere but Poland thing. Of course you don't hear them if you live around Poles because they aren't going to tell jokes about themselves...they are way too sensitive for that. No senses of humor.

Hey, the exact same thing goes for the Belgium jokes about the Dutch, and still I can laugh about them. If you can't laugh about it, then maybe you should learn to shrug it off, because some people just aren't going to change. Oh, and ofcourse some people actually think they're funny sometimes..
