If the landlord won,t get somebody in to get rid of these bugs..look for another flat , its not healthy living there....!

The cocroaches are the real problems. Other are easy to get rid off or aren't dangerous.

For moths there are special stickers like that.

Just clean the shelves, throw away old cookies, oats, etc. get the sticker and problem is solved.

If carpet is not your then don't worry about the beetles. Vaccuum the other side of the carpet and it should help for some time.

If there are worms of flies, it means that kitchen needs good cleaning.

Skorki/szczypawy are rare inhabitans of houses things and it rather like some flied into house by accident.

But if you have a cocroach then you can claim landlord to do something with it!

Yes...they are a swine to get rid of if you are unlucky enough to get them...

Mind you , he says a girl in the flat has been bitten under the arm by something...this could well be bed bugs....

Not that hard to get rid of my mate gets them occassionally in her apartment in Spain, there are special powders that you put down - but you have to scrub the place clean before you do it...

This thread has made me crawl, I have nothing but sympathy for your friend, my advice is get the pheck out of there and find another apartment, when chosing, find somewhere with hard floors throughout, no carpets and check in all the cupboards to see if they are clean (no tell tale signs of droppings of any kind)..

Ive seen those little chaps they move like friggin lightening, never seen them in any other country.

We get a lot of hornets down here, they regularly fly in through our windows, i got stung by a wasp last week i reckon the sting from a hornet would be pretty painful i heard three stings can be fatal. If i cant get them out i usually have to whack them hard a few times with a slipper to kill them outright.

Had a mouse issue last year as well but managed to solve that quite quickly:

When in NYC, US, I was shocked seeing giant cockroaches roaming the apartment I rented. For the first time in my life I used sticky tray traps. And those commercials about anti-bug sprays etc. We kill roaches! To death!!! :):):):):

The only problem with bugs that I heard of in Poland was little ants.
Currently, my apartment is home to a dozen spiders which are allowed to co-exist with us freely, plus a dozen of flies which come through open windows.

A few moths ago my room was infested with little black bugs that were born in tree bark used as the floor in my tortoise`s cage. I had to clean it thoroughly.

Exactly. First, I thought of leaving the apartment but later learnt it is a common problem in American cities.

i think somebody has mistaken a light aircraft for a cockroach....

they can be small and big... it's hard to kill them...
they like to hang out in bathrooms in the morning.... ewww....

bedbugs

I doubt its a beg bug .. because she has been the only one bitten and even till now no body else has complained about any bites etc ....

There are many spiders.... i saw one near the drain it was black and looked like a small black widow without and colorful dot on its ass so im not sure wtf that is ?

Does David Attenborough know about this flat...he could make a whole series about it...!

If it looked more less like it:

then it is a spider which bites. We call it pająk krzyżak (spider crossader) as the dots on its ass make something like a cross sign.

But there are also common quasi-spiders:

they are black or baige and don't have a head. Charachteristic are very long legs compareing to body.
They don't bite.

It bites.

They are even bigger in Florida!
The only insects I see in my place are little fruit flies, but it is because I 'feed' them with a bowl of fruit standing on a kitchen counter. Occasionally, I also see silverfish in my bathroom, especially after it rains for a couple of days and I guess they hatch in the slab basement. In the fall, I usually 'fight' with spiders, they really want to move in with me for the winter so I spray their favorite corners with 'Hot Shot' and it seems to help a lot.

I never lived in a place which would have roaches, they are nasty!

You guys. Leave those spiders alone! They're your friends. They're predators who will keep your place clean of vermin if you let'em be. I have plenty of spiders in my place. I usually find'em in the bathtub getting a sip of water. When I do I just get a tissue, pick 'em up and drop 'em off behing the wall. They survive and keep the place clean of silverfish, bedbugs, all kinds of nasty insects. Works like a charm. BTW a few cobwebs don't bother me.

We have that kind. I tried to kill one out in the yard today but the creepy little bastard got away.


We call these Daddy Longlegs. They don't make a web. They don't bother people but I've heard that they are one of the most poisonous spiders, just their little tiny teeth can't penetrate our skin. Good.

Silverfish don't need a food source; they can survive just fine in your attic and walls just by eating the paper backing of the insulation.

They sell silverfish traps. And most bugs don't like mothballs so one call put some of them in the back of closets and drawers and in the attic and under the house.

Simply moving away to a new apartment won't solve the problem as the bugs will move with you; they're in all your stuff by now.

I agree. Before I spray the corner the dweller is put in a jar (if I can catch him) and shaken outside. The spray is burning their feet, so the next one who wants to settle there just says 'aw,aw, aw' and moves away somewhere also.

It didn't happen this year yet, but last fall I had the biggest and most beautiful spider net built overnight between two hanging plants on the balcony. Gotta admire the nature at work.The huge spider sat in the middle of it. I did not have the heart to get the broom and destroy it so I left it and went to work. When I came back the spider was not there and the web was half destroyed with some insect caught in it. I regret not taking a picture.

I think I know what you mean... I've seen such a spider - it looks black and sleek? (and creepy ;S)

Kill spiders! It is pro-spider propaganda that they eat bugs! All these spiders around and still so many bugs... Bah! I wish bugs would eat spiders!
