Well, not strictly as I mentioned in the Title of the Topic. It can be any kind of story: fiction or anything will do. Suggest the book, best if it is also available in English so that we can actually spread our literature around.

As for the drama, we can add the Polish TV series, plays ... or anything that tells a story through acting would do!

As for art ... you can add from paintings to movies, from sculpture to anything that comes to you mind...

All of these can be CURRENT, TRADITIONAL, MODERN, LOGICAL OR ILLOGICAL ... THINGS ON TV OR THEATER OR EVEN A PARK!

Lets share how these strong cultural forces shape and were shaped by Poland!

The memoirs of Jan Pasek contain some of the weirdest stories i have ever read. Their opening pages recount the gutting of live Swedish soldiers in a search for swallowed coinage and the stories continue to perplex and amaze the reader from then on. Truly Pan Pasek was a raconteur of the highest order. The incredible tale of his otter and her tragic fate alone warrants making these memoirs famous outside of Poland.

Wojaczek. The most beautiful pictures I've ever seen in polish cinema. The plot is awful though.

Witold Gombrowicz, my favorite Polish writer. Trans-Atlantyk is a great novel. My favorite play is Yvonne, princesse de Bourgogne.

the most? the most could be hard to judge.
I think that Tadeusz Różewicz and Sławomir Mrożek are quite famouse drama writers. Also Janusz Głowacko had his 5 minutes.

Witold Gombrowicz, my favorite Polish writer. Trans-Atlantyk is a great novel.

I used to work with teatr Wiejski Węgajty. They have done a production of Transatlantic using masks. It's pretty good.

films/books: I read Ashes and Diamonds and actually preferred the book ending to the film ending, although the film is superb in its own right.
