what is well-off in Poland

Le'ts say a single person with 600~800k USD networth, and passive income of 40k net, would that be considered well-off in Poland?

I should think so, considering the average monthly wage is now around 3,000 złotys ($937), but the largest group of wage-earners are e closer to 1,500 - 2,000 zł a month.

Dunno if this arithmetic is right, but $800,000 translates into 2.5 million złotys, In a 5% account that should generate an annual gain of 125,000 złotys or more than 10,000 zł a month.

I'm a single guy from Canada at mid-30s. I have a decent job but it's quite stressful. Constantly I feel burned out by the stress. I've been thinking out taking a break, living with less stress in a relatively cheaper country for a while. I happened to meet some Polish girls online, and actually dated a Polish girl before and it got me curious in Poland. Lately I've got a job offer in Warsaw and it will start early 2013, therefore I have to make a decision. I don't live a luxury life style and don't plan to buy a car over there. Just comfortable living is good enough for me.

3000-3500 is medium income, although it may be higher in Warsaw. If this is a long term decision, you should think about getting a stable income I.e buy a multi family house in Canada so you can have extra money coming in each month.

Other then that, good luck. Poland is a beautiful country and Warsaw is home to many good sports teams/nightlife is good/ etc etc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I invest in family business and that's where my passive income comes from. Not sure if it's long term or not, at this moment I just want to live with less job stress for a while, then decide what to do for my career. The Polish people I've met are great. I hope I will enjoy life there.

It is higher in Warsaw. Starting salary for an office worker is about 4500, 4800.

Can you provide a link with salary information? I would like to compare salaries between cities in Poland.

Honestly nope! if you have a family and YES if you are alone considering the 2 cars kids education,and day to day normal bills by american standards.

It's just for me as I'm single without children. And I'm not planning to buy a car there, or at least not an expensive car. I'd rather invest the money on something else.

I wouldn't invest the money. As someone above said. Stick it in a bank account in Poland. Some banks offer 5.5% / 6%. You could triple your wage just on your savings.

You could even come to Poland live off the intrest and do a part time job.

Say you moved to a poor side of Poland, like Lublin, Avg wage is 1500zl a month. Found something to take up your time. You would still get 12,000zl before tax on your savings. You could live a great life. Lublin has over 100k students around 70k of them are women.

Warsaw or Krakow would be good too, but the money would get you are far. Krakow is more beautiful then Warsaw. So it could be better for you to relax.

I just think if you have had a job off for a full time job in Warsaw. It would seem great at first. but Warsaw is one of the most conjested citys in the EU. After a few months you might slip back into the hating of work/life stress again.

The job offer pays 11000 PLN gross monthly which to my understanding is not bad for Warsaw. Also the job seems interesting. I think I will take it and see how it goes. If I don't like it I can always do something as your suggested : chill out, relax a bit and maybe back to school.

I don't necessarily agree that it's better not to invest. Keeping savings in your bank account is a safe option, but ...depends what you really want from your life.

The amount of money you mentioned will let you live a comfortable life in Poland - no doubt :-)
