Sport fishing in Poland - Do you need license or buying permit to fish in the sea and coastline?

Hello fellow polish friends,

I come from Sweden and will be here to visit Poland soon this summer. In my country, it's free and no license to fish in the sea. But how about Poland?

I know that as a foreigner, you need to buy permit to fish in lakes and rivers in Poland (You sometimes don't need to take fishing license if you are foreigner but you do need to buy permit).

But how about the sea and the coastline of Poland?

I mean, the government doesn't need to plant fish there so it will not cost them any money. So shouldn't permit on coast line and sea be free? How do I as a foreigner fish in the sea or coastline of Poland?

It seems like there are a lot of information about sport fishing in lakes, ponds and rivers in Poland but nobody is mentioning about the big sea and coastline which you have up north?

Why?

I would be very grateful if you could please help me out to clarify the regulation and rules regarding this matter, thank you! :)

Hi I checked the internet for infromation and this is what I found - you need to pay a fee to be allowed to fish in the sea in Poland (30 PLN for one week, and 70 for one month and 140 for a whole year) - the proof of payment is enough to start fishing but it should contain your full name - when you come to Poland ask people for the bank account you need to pay the fee into - there are two administrative regions on Polish sea and you have to pay into the respective Regional Sea Fishing Inspectorate (OIRM) - the licence is valid starting on the day of the payment and lasts for a week, month or a year) - I can post the bank account number for the West Pommeranian region if you wish - haven't found the one for Pommeranian region yet

I would love to have that information you mentioned if you could please link that for me. And if you by any chance has some website for those informations regarding the sea regulation, please link. It could be in Polish, I can use Google translate to translate it myself but I just need to have that website since I couldn't manage myself to find the correct one.

here's the website I found it contains the bank account number for Zachodniopomorskie (West Pommerania) and some legal details - be sure to enter the name of the fishing administration outlet (Okręgowy Inspektorat Rybołówstwa Morskiego w Szczecinie) on the payment receipt - zpw.pl/zezwolenie-na-strefe-morska

there is another Regional Inspectorate in Słupsk it seems contrary to what I thought (I thought they were voievodship based) - what region are you going to visit in Poland - I may be able to direct you to the right OIRM knowing where you are going to fish

I'm planning to visit 3 cities in the coast line, which are: Gdansk, Gdynia and Kolobrzeg. :) Are those 3 cities connected into the same fishing zone?

30 Zloty for 1 week seems like very good price, I like it

Gdynia and Gdańsk are in the Gdynia regional fishing inspectorate, and Kołobrzeg is in the Szczecin aka Zachodniopomorskie regional fishing inspectorate - it looks like you would have to pay twice, but as you said the fee is quite low
