Question about bureaucracy in Poland.

Yesterday I did my taxes. All the necessary paperwork was sent to me, clearly marked, I played some computer game for 20 minutes and voilà, taxes are done. 28% sucked to the government, to spend however they please.. but bloody well done!

I realized that one of the things that makes me nervous about Poland is her bureaucracy. I don't want to play head games with some drone to get a stamp anymore. That would seriously lower my quality of life.

Are things getting better over there?
Can you pay all your bills electronically?

Man, you waited till like, the very last second, didn't ya? I actually felt like Billy Badass, getting my stuff filed within a week of getting my W-2s. It turns out I would have been better off waiting like you. I couldn't file electronically because my wife didn't get her American social security card until a week after I mailed in my return. Which meant I didn't qualify for the earned income credit, costing me basically, like, a kajillion bucks. And they say procrastinating doesn't pay. It literally DOES.

It's a sadistic tradition, doing it on a very last day.
Funny thing about EIC. I did my son's taxes, too, and he got back more than he put in. Essentially, the government took couple hundred of my dollars and just handed it to him.

Now,PIT in Poland can be filed via internet (e-deklaracje) for at least 4 years.

Some. Paying them at the corner shop (like in England) is becoming more popular. That has its drawbacks. A couple of weeks ago I was at the end of a long line of people behind a woman in her nineties who was paying all her bills (several thousand zloties' worth in small bills).


It still doesn't make the system quicker, or easier, or the tax office more pleasant to deal with.

Not some,all bills can be paid via internet but of course it doesn't mean that everyone does it that way.


Where did I say it does?This whole taxes thing is very unpleasant as far as I am concerned and in my opinion should be abolished.

Plenty of people on my osiedle do that.


If you abolished tax - who pays for the schools, the roads, national defence, embassies, prisons etc?

OK.. what does it takes to have the utilities turned on and off?

Look at how that worked out for the Greeks.

OK, here is something what will make you happy,it is much faster to get/replace a driver licence in the US.
