Is it possible to query the wedding register online(for a church ceremony done in Poland in 2003). Or do we have to go in person to the registrar office in Poland. As I dont live in Poland this would make it very inconvenient and expensive.
If its not possible to do this online. Would you recommend we do this via a lawyer.
Can someone help, even if its a polish website only. English website would be great though.
This is a Polish site where it states about all the methods available to obtain a wedding (and all civil) certificate in Poland: obywatel.gov.pl/zgon/uzyskaj-odpis-aktu-stanu-cywilnego-urodzenia-malzenstwa-zgonu
In short, there's a possibility to get it online, however first you need to register for this service from Poland. Then the handling of such matters is very convenient.
Check this: epuap.gov.pl/wps/portal/english
In your case (since the option above is most likely not available for you yet) the only way to get this document from abroad is the option by mail. You need to sent a letter to a Polish registrar office (best to the same city, in which the marriage was registered) with filled application (from here: usc.pl/pobierz.php?wniosek=4&plik=pdf) for a copy of the marriage certificate, the proof of payment for the issuance of the certificate - 33zł. If you wish to receive an act directly abroad, you probably will be charged with a consular fee - about 30euro - contact the Poland's embassy in your country for the details.
I hope it is helpful.
