I know I might get some flak for this but do you know anyone that overstayed their tourist visa and managed to not get deported?

I have a girlfriend in Poland that I want to live with.. I am from Los Angeles, USA, by the way.

Thanks!

How do you feel about illegal immigrants in America? And don't say you don't care anymore because you plan on leaving. If you are in LA then you of all people should know California's economy tanked due to its inability to support the massive influx of illegal immigrants.

I don't see how anyone can make a positive contribution in any new country if he or she fully intends to disrespect and disregard their laws.

If you can't find a way to stay legally then stay away. You will be a lawbreaker otherwise and the "but we are in love" BS won't change that.

I would spend at least $20,000 in Poland... I suppose I wouldn't hurt their economy ;)

$20,000 per month, per year or over the next couple decades?

It doesn't matter anyway because Poland doesn't need your chump change.

So one year's salary for a Pole on the very bottom of the scale, or six months' wages at the Polish national average. And six months (180 days) is the length of your tourist visa.

So come here, spend your cash, then p*ss off if you're not prepared to play by the rules.

I see.. I could also teach English..

Anyway, I'll just study at University and get a student visa..

Thanks for the hospitality :D

You need a work permit and a work visa to teach English, as well as qualifications.

Not everyone's a jerk Tyler, it's just sort of toxic around here at times.

If you hear of anyone being deported, fined or banned, I would be interested if you have the time to drop back to the forum and detail it or send me a PM.

Certainly though you should want to be legal and there is a process to go through to stay long term. Someone posted the link in a post in the last couple of days on one of the government sites detailing the process. Then again, if you can get the student visa and are actually being a student, go for it.

Good luck and please share the info as you experience it.

Nobody will deport you man.Worst case scenario you will get 1 year ban in Schengen zone when leaving but try to fix you status even just to have peace of mind.

I don't know if anybody is going to read this, but here it goes anyways.

I have a work permit and have been working for 3 months now, problem is that my tourist visa expired and I had completely forgotten about it as I thought that having the permit was good enough, my mistake. Now Im supposed to leave the country and pray to be let in again, so here's my question: is there any way that I can get the immigration office to see that I have a real job and that I am paying my taxes to have the residency? I mean, I am not working under the table and I even have health ensurance. What can I do? Does the work permit have any weight in the whole process?

I suggest you consult a lawyer as soon as possible because time is working against you. In theory, there might be ways to legalize your residence if you've overstayed your visa, but I am not familiar with them. By how many days did you overstay?

There is a "tolerated stay permit" that might be issued in this case - they tend to issue it when there are genuine screw-ups like this. But there will need to be very serious evidence that it was just a blunder and nothing more.
