Hello there !!
I am a student and studying engineering as an international student here in Poland. I really love this country and now I want to stay here permanently and I want to get a legal citizenship and a polish passport. Is there any legal procedure to get that.

I've heard that getting married to a polish national girl would make it legal. please anyone can help me by giving me the details about this.

thanks

No, marrying a Polish citizen does not make you a Polish citizen.

I'd suggest you ask the Polish embassy and explain your situation to see what they say.

Longer than the 4 years you mention, and you'll also need to take a language test plus submit as much supporting information as you can find.

Things will automatically change if the UK is no longer in the EU. The need for Polish citizenship/visas will somehow disappear.

Nah, they'll still come. The UK will still have favourable mechanisms for EU citizens, even without EU membership after all.

The alternative (EU citizens being treated like Albanians or Serbians) would result in an unbelievable amount of British people requiring residence permits in the EU, and there's no way that 1 million+ UK citizens in Europe will want that.

You should be staying in Poland 5 years to get permanent card and then 3 years after getting permanent card, you can apply for citizenship-after proving Polish language skills. This residency in Poland should have been legalized for work, the times that you spend as a student are count as half.

As far as I know, if you get married, you can be citizen within 3 and a half years. However, I would personally say -do not get married like a lot of eastern people do- just to get papers

Man, where are you from originally? Somehow it is hard to believe that you want to stay in Poland permanently. People from India like to go western countries, unless there is somthing you are not telling.

Delph, how many Brits are drawing benefits from the EU countries they reside in? A fraction, and even they have paid into the system.I have been here 12 years, paid tax and Zus to receive 1000 PLN for the birth of my daughter, which did not even cover the Pampers for the 1st month. You seriously, believe, Poland is going to kick me out of the country and pay for the upkeep of my child? You are having a laugh. If they require me to leave the country, this would exonerate me from my parental duties as it was their choice, not mine. And we are not even discussing the human rights issue of a right to family life.

Only a small point, but you could've received up to 7000zl had you paid the right amount of sickness insurance. It's too long winded to explain here, but the maternity/paternity payouts depend very much on your contributions as opposed to being set at a fixed level. If you were employed, you'd get 80% of your salary.

No, what would happen is that all these non-EU citizens would be suddenly required to comply with the same rules as the rest. It's no big deal for those of us actually established and with legal paperwork here - but there are untold amounts of Brits all over the EU that simply haven't bothered with any local formalities, especially in Spain.

Can you honestly imagine Margaret and John turning up at Malaga Airport and being told "We need to see proof of your income, health insurance and oh yeah, you've only got 3 months here?". It would be a nightmare - and so the UK would inevitably do a deal with the EU to protect freedom of movement of everyone.

"How many years it will take to get Polish citizenship ? I"

You will not have Polish citizenship in 4 years.

Even in more time, still your chances are VERY reduced.

Doesn't worth trying.

" However, I would personally say -do not get married like a lot of eastern people do- just to get papers"

The best advice ever gave by a Turkish here.
Dont marry for papers. When she divorces you, she will take almost everything you earned.

(And you will deserve that punishment, for trying to corrupt the system)

Depends how long he's been here. You only need to be resident for 2 years after obtaining permanent residency in order to apply for citizenship.

In fact, it's very easy to do what he's suggesting.

If you're from the Indian sub-continent you need a visa and you can stay for up to 90 days. If you want to live and work in Poland you need to find an employer in Poland who will offer you a job and apply for a work permit on your behalf.
