I also think it is a good idea.

I remember living in Glasgow there was almost one on each street corner in some places. Obviously, in Poland many people have access to a washing machine or a grandmother, but for tourists, students etc, I think it'd be good. It would probably take some time for the culture to develop, tho.

The other thing is those big dry cleaning machines (like dry-clean tumblers). Cheaper than taking two or three pairs of trousers etc to a dry-cleaning shop.

I quite like the idea of setting up a mail order company specialising in British products for expats in Poland.

Things like t bags, walkers crisps, gravy powder, branstons pickle, the stuff that you cant find easily in Poland. There is a site that covers this but they specialise in the whole world, if somebody concentrated on Poland you should be able to undercut them and offer a superior service.

I also like the idea of green energy, distribution of free power such as wind and solar.

I was close to setting up a property management company a few years ago, thank god i never went through with that.

Importing second hand clothes is one but this has been done already, the profits would not be enough and youd be forever driving across Germany.

Importing cars could be profitable too, some vans can be easily converted to LHD, even so not worth the hassle imo.

I have another one which im actually persuing but im not going to tell anyone about that.....

where's that? Weget a few occasional brands in some shops here in Olsztyn, but it's generally medium, mainstream stuff. I'd kill for some Wenslydale too.

Funny you should mention that, my first trip to Legnica was to buy a Shitzu puppy. We paid 500 pln i think. No money in kittens you can literally pick them up on the street, Persians perhaps. Actually i think one of ours is pregnant...great.

Puppies - maybe a good business. Yorkshire Terriers and such.


I have a great T bag source, Biedronka do an excellent product still weak as p1ss but i like them, better than Liptons anyway and much cheaper around 7 pln / 100.

There is already a couple of fish and chip shops. This one has just opened in Waw and they will bring in any Brit products you want. They go to the UK every week. fishandchips.pl

They aren't cheap but up to 30kg of stuff shipped over costs £20.

I get stuff from them quite often...always well packed...a great idea....

Indeed judging by the feedback on here they seem to doing quite well.

Part worn tyres from Germany where the legal limit is something like 5mm. Its a pretty good business in the UK so i guess it would work in PL where people are much tighter.

LHD cars from Japan, Yes they do have them, usually prestige brands such as Beemer, Audi, Mercedes etc as its fashionable to have LHD there even though they drive on the left.

They are kept in mint condition and have rarely done more than 100,000 kms. I think that this could be a goldmine. low mileage German cars always sell for a premium.

maybe you can try to import some novelty from other products

Poles have enough of their own entrepreneurs. so tend to have just about everything covered. If you are lucky enough to find a new concept, then hope it is one that can not be copied, make your money as quickly as is possible because these guys like jumping on the band wagon.

I remember traveling to Pl in the 90,s, when one year the unknown upvc windows got introduced. The following year bill-boards all over Poland were advertising ........ yes, you,ve guessed it ........ upvc windows.
