Harry 26 Dec 2013 / #31Anybody who thinks that Poland has no real ale needs to track down the nearest pub to them which sells beers by Ale Browar or Pinta. Oto Mata and Rowing Jack both come particularly highly recommended.
Norwester 27 Dec 2013 / #32My wife and I, both polish expats from 80's had switched to bitters from European lagers shortly after our move from London leather head. Our favourite pubs were the green king, star and fox and hounds. The last two on leather head road in chessington. Today we live in Canada. Of all fond memories of England comes to the fore having a pint of bitter at either of these and sharing a hamlet cigar. The best beers I tasted were badgers,spitfier,6x, tangle foot and green king. North America has no beers to match. I don't think Europe has either. If Poland were ever to star opening pubs serving properly breaded bitters and ales, that would be a fine treat for us, old fogies.!I meant brewed not breaded...
Caoimhin 27 Dec 2013 / #33Yes, Pinta is an excellent brewery! My favorite currently is Pinta Atak, an APA that would not be out of place amongst the best ales of the Pacific Northwest.I'll add that the brewers at Pinta are well traveled and they know their craft. :)

Norwester 28 Dec 2013 / #35What exactly is micro brewery? Sounds suspect to me. Beer from a packet? Someon onc offered me microbrew in small pb in Calgary. It gave me a thumping headache before the end of the 1st bottle.

Caoimhin - | 3 28 Dec 2013 / #37If you'd like to taste some of the finest of American ales and you have a week, or better, a month to spare, I would suggest a visit to Portland, Oregon, a city in the Pacific Northwest of the USA with a population of 600,000, yet it has over 2,000 breweries. I once spent a week there, went out nightly with friends, and only began to scratch the surface but I would especially recommend anything from Lompoc Brothers Brewery. Here in Poland I tend to buy British bottle conditioned ales, especially Old Speckeled Hen as it's available locally where I live, but when I'm at Zloty Terasy I can find Pinta at World of Beers on the lower level of the mall.
Harry 28 Dec 2013 / #38Next time you're in Warsaw, make time for a visit to Piw Paw on ulica Parkingowa (about ten minutes walk from the central station): 57 beers on tap and another hundred plus in bottles.
