Certificate of no impediment to marriage in Poland -- Can't issue in my country.

Hi guys,

My country does not issue this document required from polish officer, so he said I must go to court and ask for a permission to get married without this document.

Did someone have this problem here? It's a hard effort? Takes to much time to do it? Would be easier with a lawyer? Any idea how expensive will be?

Thanks

It's a hard effort?

The time it takes depends on where you are from and which court you are asking. You really do not need a lawyer. But you will need a sworn interpreter. It won't cost more than a thousand zloty.

Like Harry said, you don't need a lawyer but you will need a sworn interpreter and you have to be prepared to wait a few months - depending on where you file your case. The clerk at the court might be your best guide in terms of how long it will take.

What about getting married in Brazil instead?

Do you mean, get married in Brazil and then make it official in Poland? Would be easier to just register the Brazilians papers in Poland, than actually getting married there?

In this way, will have the same "effect" of getting married in Poland? Same rights in terms of residence and work permit in Poland and Europe?

Yes, get married in Brazil and register your marriage in Poland.

Registering marriage in Poland is faster and easier than asking for a court decision regarding eligibility for marriage without a marriage license from a foreign country (like your case). Plus you can do it through the Polish embassy in the country where you live (takes longer in this case). Just one small piece of advice, do not apply for a visa to Poland (on the basis of being spouse of Polish citizen) until your marriage is registered in Poland and you have the Polish marriage certificate with you.

I don't know what are the marriage formalities in Brazil.

Once your marriage is registered in Poland and you have a marriage certificate issued by an office in Poland you will undisputably have 100% the same "effect" as being married in Poland with regards to everything. I have been there and done that.

Another plausible option might be getting married in Church in Poland. Also been there and done that :)

Man, i had the same issue. Call BR embassy in warsaw, talk to Paulo. He will tell you what to do! You need to open a case in the Polish court to solve anything from here. Separate 3 months for everything.

Merged: Struggling to get is a document certifying I'm free to marry in Poland?

Hello guys,

Me and my long-time Polish girlfriend are finally getting married :) But being a non-EU citizen I'm struggling to collect an essential document for civil registry office -USC. The document that I'm struggling to get is a document certifying I'm free to marry, issued in my country of origin. But what I've learnt from my country consulate is that no such document can be issued from my country (India) unfortunately.

If there are any Indians on this forum who have gone through similar process, please contact me at gsehmi09@gmail. Any guidance would be highly appreciated

Thanks
