How to bring your savings to Poland

Hi,

I will be coming to Poznan in June. I wanted to ask how can I bring my savings with me. Should I consider bringing a little money and later wire transferring the remaining to a bank account in Poznan or should I just bring all of it with me. I don't feel safe with the later option. Any pointers will be helpful.

It depends!;) It 's a matter of 200 ZL, euros, dollars, pounds, Swiss francs or whatever, it's ok to keep money on you but it's a matter of thousands or of millions, best to leave money in your bank and to withdraw it as needed. In Poland, it's the same as everywhere else, it is not safe to walk around with large sums...... You can also lose it....

Read up on this please. I think you can bring to Poland the equivalent of 10,000 Euros (in cash) without any trouble, but if any official asks you, you must tell him. Chances are that you do not intend to bring this much.

radoslav, as terri states, 10,000 is the max on your person, if you were stopped you would have some serious questions to explain away the rest.

I will have to pay for the first month rent and deposit so I think I should have a few thousand zlotys and the remaining I will wire transfer to an account in Poznan once I am all set. Thank you for your answers.

I will be coming from Pakistan and I am aware of this rule of 10,000 Euros but just did not feel like carrying this much so that's why asking for options. I hope wire transfer rates are not that much. I will also check with my bank in Pakistan to find out about my options.

Have a look at World First - I use them and they are good. There's also Poland transfer who do something similar.

It does not have Pakistani Rupee as currency. I will check Poland transfer may be it does.
