Law: Alcohol consumption in Poland's Public Transport

Hi All

I see people of all ages drinking alcohol in the public transport and talking nonsense. Being a foreigner and non-european, I find it very strange.

My polish friend told me that it is illegal to drink alcohol but I see no fear of law in these people.

Did any of you witnessed a situation where these people were punished?

Yes, several times.

I don't have a problem with it myself, however the police certainly do.

if there is a group the conductors/inspectors often let them go. unless the police or straz kolejowy find them, it's often not worth the hassle of dealing with.
