smurf 38 | 1940 28 Sep 2010 / #1I was doing some work for a company, they outsourced me to do some teaching in an office.Anyway, I finished the work last July and I'm still waiting to get paid.I've made a number of phone calls, sent emails and I'm at the end of my tether now. They obviously don't want to pay me, should I get a solicitor involved? Or does Poland have a small claims court or an Ombudsman? Thanks

OP smurf 38 | 1940 28 Sep 2010 / #3They're in Warsaw and I'm in Kato....but I'd have done that long ago if I could've (^_^)
alexw68 28 Sep 2010 / #4Do you have a written contract? And if so, is it in Polish? Not sure a contract in any other language for services conducted here is binding (wasn't several years ago, that's for sure)
OP smurf 38 | 1940 28 Sep 2010 / #5Yea mate in both Polish & English and I've a ton of correspondence emails as well
alexw68 28 Sep 2010 / #6That sounds like a solid base for litigation then. You could start by charging interest on the overdue amount at 5% per month. That way you pay for a solicitor's letter (stating the above) without committing to a full-blown case and might get a result before m'learned friends get seriously - and expensively - involved.
OP smurf 38 | 1940 28 Sep 2010 / #7That's a good idea, thanks.It's not even much money it's just I don't want them to get away with it y'know?
dtaylor5632 18 | 1998 28 Sep 2010 / #8Another question, were you paid in cash or straight into bank account? Also were you given a receipt of work done at the end of the month?
OP smurf 38 | 1940 28 Sep 2010 / #9was supposed to be into my bank but I've never gotten anything. and to your 2nd question, yes, I had signed reports from the firm I was doing the lessons with to say that they attended the lessons and then I fillled out a form for the company I worked for to show them what I was doing in each lesson and what material I used etc
