What is the current decision on lands taken from ancestors (Kresy) near Lwow?

I just found out about this land that belonged to my father that he and his family were forced off of. The only information I found about possibility of claims was conflicting and the last thing I found was that there was a deadline of 2008 for filing. I did not know about that then. I just found this one very faded sheet of paper (written in Russian?) that listed size and value of property and buildings. I asked my mom what it was and she said it was what he left behind when they were forced to leave (when the Soviets or Ukrainians made them leave in 1945 - 1946). He never made any claims on this document. Now I'm curious is there any way to claim this and if so where? Who would I contact. The links that I found on this forum are all not working. If anyone knows anything please let me know. Thank you.

Sorry for the late answer, and I have bad news - unfortunately it's too late to submit the application.. I'm afraid that 8/27/2014 the final deadline expired - (the date was extended from 2008)

February 27, 2014 have changed the provisions of the Act of 8 July 2005. on implementation of the right to compensation for property left outside the present borders of the Polish Republic. The changes, which introduced amendments to the Act, expanding the circle of persons entitled to apply for compensation for the so-called Bug River property.

Is not much time for submitting the request to reopen the proceedings in order to obtain compensation for changes in these regulations - six months after the entry into force of these changes. So the final deadline is August 27, 2014. To confirm the right for compensation can occur both those who have applied to December 31 2008 (It was the deadline for submission of the application for compensation), as well as those who in this period have not made such a request.

Thank you for the information/update. I appreciate it. Who was the entity to contact regarding that? Is there any chance they may extend it or open it up for application again? After all 6 months is not a lot of time especially for it to come out of the blue so to speak. Also is there any website or office to contact or to keep checking with regarding this? Basically some way to see what is going on with this issue. Many thanks again for your time and reply.

Who was the entity to contact regarding that?

I'll try to translate the relevant paragraphs:

Application for a decision in accordance with the Law of 8 July 2005 on exercising the right to compensation for property left outside the current borders of the Republic of Polish, can apply:

1. The owners (or co-owners) of property abandoned beyond the present borders of the Poland who were on 1 September 1939 Polish citizens and have lived on former territory of the Republic of Poland

2. In the case of death of the property owner (co-owner) - the right to compensation shall be entitled to all his heirs, or some of them, as indicated by the other heirs, if they have Polish citizenship. Identification of a person entitled to compensation is followed by the submission of a statement with notarized signature to a public administration body or in the Polish consular office.

Is there any chance they may extend it or open it up for application again?

I'm not sure if it's possible yet - but you should contact with a lawyer.

Also is there any website or office to contact or to keep checking with regarding this? Basically some way to see what is going on with this issue.

Lost property (so-called mienie zabużańskie) and compensation are (were) in the hands of voivodeship offices, according to the place of residence of the applicant.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_divisions_of_Poland#Voivodeships

I don't know about any general website which deals with the case.
