British managers superior to Polish

WTF?

By the way, did you pay that EU money back yet, as you have so often said you would?

The thread is about how the British management style is so much more effective than the Polish - the example given about the huge Olympic project being such a success compared to Euro 2012 is a good one.

many of the locals will be offering their services free of charge during the Olympics – Job well done.

That is actually an Australian idea, that's what they in with Sydney, and it is very much an Olympic thing they don't do that for football championships anywhere in the world.

GET THE JOB DONE EFFECTIVELY.

Actually involves roadworks and the like, which you seem not to like, so you can't have your cake and eat it as well.

Let's wait until it's over before casting judgement. Ithink the matches themselves will go ok and the visiting fans will have a good time. But I think transport and accommodation will be pretty dodgy. There is just too much to achieve in 3 months

Warsaw, Gdansk and Wroclaw only had to build one stadium and look at the mess each city made.

What about the re-building of Wembley Stadium? The old Wembley closed in Oct 2000 and it was supposed to be demolished in Dec 2000, and the opening of the new Wembley Stadium was planned for 2003.

Demolition finally got underway in Sept 2002 and the old Wembley stadium was finally demolished by Feb 2003; the new stadium was scheduled to be ready for the 2006 FA Cup Final, but further delays meant that it wasn't ready till a year later to host the 2007 FA Cup Final.

I agree the roads/transport in Poland are less than perfect and it will take some time to get the infrastructure right, but I think Poland has come a long way in the last 20 yrs and will only get better.

In Poland they hide behind their unfortunate history

it's not question of 'hiding' ...... those who lived or had family living in post-war Poland can't forget what it was like under communist rule; if Poland had been a free country like Britain after WWII , I'm sure things would be much different today.

Patriotism is a funny thing.

true, .... but it's something to be admired and respected

In what, please tell us dear sir. Cricket ?

Making things happen...

Poland has become the joke of Europe, even the Spanish managed to get their road infrastructure completed in reasonable time. March 2012 and the roads are a disgrace, although you will do the standard thing, cover the cracks and holes with a new layer, hide the existing road works and rejoice that you finished on time. The only good thing for Poland is when the fans go to the Ukraine it will make Poland look better. Does Poland really need to rely on the Ukraine to look good, you should be comparing yourself to Czech, Italy, Spain. Poland had the benefit of hindsight she could have looked at any country and plagiarized all that was good, worked with good foreign companies in order to oversee the Polish ones and made things happen. What happened everything happened at local level - FAIL. Got the Chinese in - FAIL. Now you look like the sick man of Europe.

Get the British in fresh from the Success of the Olympic Games and they will turn Poland around.

we visited the Olympic village in Stratford all going to plan, t

Hate to pee on your pardade but this has gone way over budget and the security throughout the games is going to run into millions of £££ so whilst it all looks nice and shiny and new, dont think for one minute everything has been perfect (my old company has done the security systems and designed the vollyball area and the lighting for various other things so I know a little about village and its issues) - lets also not forget the back-handers and corruption involved.. The vast majority of the work was awarded to companies on the basis of you scratch my back and I'll put a few quid in your back pocket....But yes there will be people working for free same was when we hosted the commonwealth games, thats normal in all countries that host these kind of things, its not something unique to Britain.

Im sure the lack of infrastructure in Poland has all boiled down the fact they didnt have the funds to do it, which begs the qustion of why they got it in the first place?

because there are 44 million people here and the west is trying to exploit Poland more than it already has. because the ability to make money from this is astounding- even after the amount invested there will still be profit.

I can understand why Poland got it- the Ukraine part I don't get.

How it was?

I can't understand why foreigners think that people in Poland suffers for some form of a post-traumatic shock caused by living under communism. Is this a medical condition?

Thank you for your post. I still keep in mind Wedle's comments in the thread named "Poles - the nation of liars?" in which he was forcing his views that large scale corruption exists only in Poland.

Why Wedle wants to see Poland as a worse country, that's beyond me...

Poles also ask themselves this question :)

There is corruption in all countries, while it may have gone over budget, it will be on time and it makes Londoners proud to host the games. As I have previously mentioned there are many good British companies who have the experience to get the job done for Poland.

I still keep in mind Wedle's comments in the thread named "Poles - the nation of liars?"

a.k, the main Problem with Poles: If you are Polish, you can criticize Poland until your heart is content, when you are a foreigner, you are expected to sit in the corner and be a good boy/girl. I apologize if my comments offend, although I believe I speak the truth and I provide facts to prove my point. Furthermore I have mostly always supported Poland and I have been a friend of Poland, you can't walk around with blinkers on, I see Poland for what it is, the fat, the thin and the ugly.

you are Polish, you can criticize Poland until your heart is content, when you are a foreigner, you are expected to sit in the corner and be a good boy/girl.

You've got responses from fellow British yet you belittled them or ignored them, and keep on with provocating or even insulting statements. How should it be read other way than "I want to vent my frustrations on this forum to make myself feel better by looking down on other nations".

If you are Polish, you can criticize Poland until your heart is content, when you are a foreigner, you are expected to sit in the corner and be a good boy/girl.

Isn't it the rule which applies to every single country? If I dare say something wrong about Britain, then I will be severely abused. It works in every country.

I don't see any facts provided by you. Just your opinions.

Furthermore I have mostly always supported Poland and I have been a friend of Poland

It's not the first thread/opinion made by you which was read by Poles as provocative.

you can't walk around with blinkers on, I see Poland for what it is, the fat, the thin and the ugly.

Who said Poles are? Where have you been for the last several years when people were bidding when the Euro Chapionships would be moved from Poland to Italy? From the very beginning the atmosphere about Euro was like that: "Is this a kind of joke?", "Let's wait for the epic fall!", "We will drown billions in Euro and end up in crisis!"... all the time pesimistic attitude and disbelief, even before anything had been started.

And now you pop up with your discovery! Poles not good at organising things - oh really, no sh*t! ;)

it reads like "Kaput" by Curzio Malaparte, chapter 7 -"Cricket in Poland" - you people always sound as if you are getting some kind of .......gratification, unexplained satisfaction from pouring gnojówka over anything polish, why are you on this polish forum – this is quite phenomena, and it is so pathetic -there is certainly something missing in your lives, does it make you feel more superior when pressing “enter".

while it may have gone over budget,

By billions, not millions...miss-management springs to mind

it will be on time and it makes Londoners proud to host the games.

I think you wil find that, that extends to British people, not just those south of Watford!

As I have previously mentioned there are many good British companies who have the experience to get the job done for Poland.

Now that did tickle me, considering the majority of these "British" companies employed foreign labour to get the job done and bypassed locals who are indiginous to this island...Not to mention they blocked companies outside of London! (we won all the work through out London office!)..You really have no idea about the politics that were involved in this shambolic mess that has cost the government billions..do you realise how many new school projects and hospitals have been axed because of it? All because we want to look great to the world..Its a disgrace!

Thank you for your post.

You're welcome :)

What about the re-building of Wembley Stadium?

Compare that to the far far smaller project of Modlin airport! Or Warsaw Chopin terminal 2.

Not quite. I seem to remember a thread on welcoming Poles to benefit Britain where Brits in Britain on this site started in on how crap England is (and not because of Poles being here).

Read carrefully. It's different when a national criticizes his own country and when a foreigner criticizes a foreign country.

The usual thing what an expat who criticizes a host country can hear is "you know where the door is", regardless if this is a Pole or any other nationality. I saw many times when a Pole criticizing Britain was answered back with such or similar reply.

Interesting retort, PF is a forum and people are free to post their views if it is outside the title of the thread, mods will delete. Looking down on other nations, I am only pointing out the facts about Poland, many people agree with me - even the indigenous population.

Isn't it the rule which applies to every single country? If I dare say something wrong about Britain, then I will be severely abused. It works in every country.

Absolutely NOT, Poles are not tolerant....

As a Brit, quite frankly it does not bother me the slightest what you have to say about the UK,.

It's not the first thread/opinion made by you which was read by Poles as provocative.

Its a tough world we live in, it won't be the last either.

Where have you been for the last several years

Poland.

Stop being so patriotic a.k. Accept Poland for what it is or what it could be, but stop spinning me your yarn.

Now that did tickle me, considering the majority of these "British" companies employed foreign labour

That is exactly why the title of the thread is: British managers superior to Polish and not British manual workers superior to Polish.

While we are on the subject, many companies in London have increased their customer/client service policy, has this happened in Poland. As far as I am concerned customer service does not exist in Poland,,,,

You maybe not but others do. If you deny it then you don't know your fellow countrymen.

Absolutely NOT, Poles are not tolerant....

What being tolerant or not has to do with it?

Stop being so patriotic a.k.

I'm not patriotic here. Just sensible. And you could stop being self-rightous.

Accept Poland for what it is

That is a good saying. You should take it to your heart.

I don't, even Amaythyst aka (the skanc from Manc) doesn't within reason, who else is British on this thread? Harry wouldnt, I believe Jonny wouldn't either.

The Brits tend to be a realistic bunch IMO, i dont think im being biased with that statement.

Not so sure British managers get the job done, quite as you say. It's hit and miss as to who you work with - comes down to how they got the job as manager...

My argument is easy to understand, get the British project managers fresh from the Olympic success into Poland, then let then take the Polish road builders to task...
