Apply for PESEL/Passport/ID Card in Los Angeles Consulate or Warsaw? Which is faster?

Hi everyone,

I have my proof of citizenship from my parents, and my Polish birth certificate in hand. I would like to try to get my PESEL and passport / id card as fast as possible. Although I am trying to figure out if I should book a flight to Poland and do it in Warsaw. How long will it take? I was also considering establishing residency when I am out there, since I am going to move there eventually.

Or do I file through Los Angeles consulate?

Last question, do I have to be in person to pick up my card / passport or can they mail it?

Thanks.

I have renew my passport by mail in Los Angles, I got the new passport by resister mail. I think you should go with a consulate in country where you live.

I don't know about the consulate, but I do know that in Poland, it takes about about 1-2 weeks to get your ID card, and about a month to get your passport, and yes you do need to pick it up in person. Not sure about the PESEL, since to my understanding, that's sort of akin to getting a social security number... sort of.
