What to say when answering phone in Polish?

How do you answer the phone in Polish?

Tak

If you're phone show's who's calling, do you start off with: Dzień dobry, Panie Ryszardzie (and similar)?

It depends who is calling ;)
Default answer is from Tak, słucham to Czego znowu? if mother in law ;)
or the number you are trying to reach ...

And here I thought that most Poles would reply to mum-in-law calls with: 'Mamusiu kochana, jak się cieszę. Stęskniłem się za Mamusią. Jak szanonwe zdrowie? Nie możemy się doczekać odwiedzin Mamy, im dłuższe tym lepiej!'

Answering?
"Cześć", "No cześć", "Hej", or "Hejka".

i would say tak or slucham ciebie. definitely czego znowu for mother in law. witam if you like the person, and if you really dont like them,czego dupek! hope this helps

since you said "answering" then stick to that mr. sidetrack.
i normally answer, "helo" or "prosze" or by name (like hej Bolek!) since their name pops up on my mobile.
