Proper Polish translation of "my love"

My wife and I have two kids but we have also lost two during the pregnancy. The most recent had a big impact because we were further along in the pregnancy and had already told all of our family and friends. My wife is finally feeling better after several months but she wants to commemorate our children that we lost. She suggested getting matching tattoos as a reminder of them. She is Lebanese and wants to get a phrase in Arabic that literally means "my love" but as a term of endearment more loosely translates to "my life." Is there a similar phrase or word in Polish? I was originally thinking kochanie because I thought it meant love or beloved but after looking into it further, it sounds like it has become more like slang for sweetheart.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What's the Arabic phrase (with a literal translation) that would help. I'm assuming it's not habibi....

My non=native intuitions suggest that kochanie is all wrong but I'm not sure what would be right without more info on just precisely what it is that you want it to say...

The phrase she wants to get is ya hayati. I had the translation backwards. Literally it translates to my life but they use it to mean my love.

She is Lebanese

I don't understand why you want that in Polish

She is getting it in Arabic because she is Lebanese. I am Polish so I was going to get the same thing in Polish.

If you are Polish then you know that "my love" is "moja miłość"

I know the literal translation but since I do not live in Poland and Polish is not my primary language I am asking if there is a phrase that has the same meaning colloquially. My family uses kochanie as a term of endearment and I was originally told it means love but I don't think that has quite the same meaning as ya hayati in Arabic.

"moja miłość"

This is the best translation.

habibi

Doesn't really suit and is in any case the masculine singular. in Polish it would be closer to 'przyaciół'.

kochanie

Closer to 'darling'. Stick with 'moja miłość'.

Actually what I was thinking : )

Don't make any decisions yet (as it can take a couple of weeks for the best option to emerge)

"my love" is "moja miłość"

But the example he gave is vocative (wołacz) so that should be moja miłości except does anyone use vocative for that?

I personally would vote against 'moja miłość' because that refers more to the noun 'love' or to someone you were in love with. It doesn't work in this scenario. Go for something like 'mój najukochańszy aniołek' (my most beloved angel) or something. Polish is also not my first language so sorry I can't be much help, I'll try to think of something for you.

How about "Kochana moja!"?
:-)

If this is in commemoration of more than one lost pregnancy then "kochane moje" would be better (or "moje kochane")?

I actually like that better than moja miłości but I'm not a native speaker

This phrase is just perfect as a phrase in vocative, with the exception that it should be put in the reverse order: miłości moja! I am not entirely sure what the OP wants to express, but 'moja miłość' which is also good is just a descriptive phrase, whereas 'miłości moja!' says the same, but directly addresses a person who is someone's love. The latter phrase is vocational, affectionate and very poetic. In plural it would be: miłości moje!

In that case, "KochanO moja!"
LOL

I'm not sure if miscarriages are really LOL material.... did you read the fist post?

I wasn't referring to a miscarriage, but rather to the thread title:-) "Kochano moja!" follows the pattern "Litwo, ojczyna moja!"

but the OP was writing about a miscarriage....

and kochana is an adjective so it doesn't have vocative case so no -o
