How do I address a letter to a woman (20 years old) in Poland. I understand that for an older woman I would use Sz. P (and name). Is it the same for younger women too?

Thank you for any advice.

How do I address a letter to a woman

It depends on th degree of formality and also if it's an e-mail or a paper letter.
Sz.P. is an abbreviation of Szanowna Pani, used on envelopes. It can be used in full form as a letter heading but it's very formal.

Szanowna Pani, (no name here)
xxxxxxxx

It's appropriate if you don't know her in person or if it's some kind of a business letter.

If you know her and you're on first name terms, then write:
Droga X

If it's an e-mail, you may start with DzieƄ dobry.

I am on first name terms but it is for an envelope on a chrismas card (which will be posted from Ireland). Which should I use for that?

Thank you.

oh, so I misunderstood you. Yes, for an envelope use Sz.P., regardless of her age.

Is this because other people will be reading the envelope like the postman? You can write Droga Anna on the card in the envelope but Szanowna Pani on the envelope?

Thanks

It's just a convention.

Droga Anna

'Droga Anna' is incorrect. 'Droga Anno'

Yes
