I am just at work (bored :/) discussing with my Polish friend what the BIGGEST/LONGEST Polish word is,

So what is it?
With an explanation would be appreciated but not necessary,

I know its not Polish...but the Russian word for an oil refinery is something that takes up half a page....any of our Russian speakers know what it is....?

I know some russian but I don't know this word. One thing quiet interesting military-technical language is a black magic for common russian engineer. :)

it's a chemical term, meaning: having the valency of 999. Such valencies don't actually exist, nevertheless from the lingiustic point the word is correct.

Still I'm not sure if it's the longest possible word. You could try to make something even longer with numerals.

My Polish friend dismisses this as the longest word,

She said that you can make words with numbers Such as: dziewięćsetdziewięćdziesięciodziewięciowartościowy really long, but in the Polish Dictionary the longest word is: Konstantynopolitańczykowianeczka

She considers the 999 word cheating :(

Some street names in Poland are quite long. In the city of Grudziądz there is a street named ulica Konstantego Ildefonsa Gałczyńskiego, which is a trubute to a Polish poet.

These are all (thankfully failed) propositions to rename Warsaw streets:

1. ul. Młodocianych Więźniów Politycznych z lat 1944-56
= Juvenile Political Prisoners from the years 1944-56 Street

3. ul. Obrońców Zdrowia i Życia Człowieka i Rodziny (the best:-)
= Defenders of the health and life of the individual and family Street

4. plac Ducha Świętego
= Holy Ghost Place

5. rondo Polskich Kryptologów - Deszyfrantów Enigmy
= Polish Cryptologists - Enigma Decoders Roundabout

And some local politician proposed renaming the Warsaw subway:
I Linia Warszawskiego Metra im. Polskiego Państwa Podziemnego
= The Polish Underground State, Line One of the Warsaw Underground :-)))

And for the name of Kabaty metro station: KABATY IM. DESZYFRANTÓW ENIGMY
= Enigma Decoders Kabaty.

Thankfully the city council saw sense.

And its longer variant:

Changing the ending to the plural Konstantynopolitańczykowianeczkami makes it even longer, or is that cheating?

My question was supposed to be a joke, the answer being Uć (£ódź).

I searched google :-) with the keywords najkrótsza nazwe miasto and then when I found Oś I searched about this place.

There is something to be said for living in a time before the internet, look at all the time you saved by not being on facebook, you tube and Polish forums etc. You read books etc.
