I am a Polish gal, was born in Poland & live in Canada most of my life.

Please tell me which one is better :)

Naming our daughter,...

Kaia or Kaya? I know in Poland it is Kaja but here in North America, they will read "Ka-jah" not "Kai-yah"

Alexandra or Aleksandra?

Dzieki :))

try Kayah

Katarzyna Rooijens (born as Katarzyna Szczot 5 November 1967 in Warsaw[1][2]), professionally known as Kayah, is a Polish singer-songwriter.

We have a Kaja in this house.

I think Kaya looks like a more natural spelling in English. It is also a lovely name :)

Many old fashioned names out there:

Zdzisława
Mieczysława
Miłosława
Mirosława
...

And then there's always Wisława (as in "Szymborska")
:-)

I personally am fond of Krysia aka Krzysztyna, Kasia, Domenika, and Sandra.

Boys names? I want some input into this as my baby daddy says he has to choose the names as he's polish?

Boguś > Bogdan, Piotruś > Piotr, Michał, Antek, and Witek are among my favorites:-)

I like the sound of some of those, maybe he will agree to them! How do I chose which one I like?

Like nearly everywhere, first names are totally generational! You wouldn't torture your kid with a name from your boyfriend's GRANDDAD'S generation now, would you?

No what I mean is because of his culture he chooses the babies name so how should I get to choose one?

Compromise, I suppose:-) Hey, he might even opt for an Anglophone aka "traditional" name for the child!

I know for example relatively few Polish males UNDER fourty named Bolek > Bolesław, as it is a royal name after King Bolesław The Brave (Bolesław Chorobry). On the other hand for girls, certain traditional names are quite popular, I understand.
