Where can I find an online translator which is free, user-friendly and accurate?
The current translator simply made me a fool in front of my Polish friend...

Free and user friendly? Yes.
Accurate? No such thing exists for Polish translators.

Polish to English translator

Does anyone know of a good Polish to English translator and vis versa?

Similar to yahoo's translator, which works fairly well ;)

I've not used babelfish, but I have tried google language tools and I'm not impressed. I've also used translatica which is better, but still not great.

Also, babelfish doesn't translate to and from Polish.

Poltran does. I've just tested it.

just don't use the small box. use the larger dialogue/translation box.

Just learn Polish, or else simply talk in English.
For some quick sentences to impress, use PF.

There are no accurate online translators. Accurate electronic translators are, so far, science fiction. We are not enough technologically advanced to create a program, that would understand human language, and without understanding a sentence, you cannot translate it. To choose how to translate each word, you must understand its context - and that is something computers can't do yet.

So, just forget it!

I agree that the translators don't work all the time. I translated a letter from the Polish Government and it said nothing about needing a work permit. I asked a Polish person to read it and they said "ohh they are asking for a work permit".

I agree that it is impossible to translate Polish to English. Thank you PF and real person is the way to go. Plus, learning Polish through site.

WHAT IS THE BEST FREE ONLINE POLISH-ENGLISH & ENGLISH-POLISH DICTIONARY?

I have not found any good online two-way dictioanaries. Usually the word I'm looking for is not there and I have to go to my good, old reliable bookcase. Are there any decent, comprehensive dictionaries online? How many entries does it contain? 50,000 is the beginner's level. for normal users upwards of 200,000 would be needed, better yet at least 500,000.

well... i'm not a linguist, but ling.pl doesn't seem to me as a 'best' solution... i used it from time to time.

in my opinion: there is no 'the best' dictionary - the best option is to check word in few dictionaries, and than use it.

Many dzięks! ling.pl is defintiely the best online translator I have ever seen. Esp. since words are translatable into all the major European languages at a single site. I tried some no longer very common words such as bednarstwo and podczaszy and they were there.

A good place to get free polish translations online?

Does anyone know a good place to get Polish translations online?
Where you can post a video and get the meaning of a few words.
I would expect to have to translate something for someone else in return of course because nothing is free.

Some others have made comments and I have many links also bookmarked, but the best translator I have used is translatica.pl and the best dictionary/resource is dict.pl these have both already been mentioned a number of times here.

Which of all these translators is the most accurate and give the best translations?

Maybe we should open a poll to vote?

Thanks!
