News / Americans try to defame Poland yet again. [93]

Polish people degrade Americans all the time, like saying they are stupid, fat, ugly, the food is bad, etc. But one joke about Poland, and all hell breaks loose!

Life / Expats` opinion on alien immigration to Poland - for or against? [87]

These invading muslims are richer than most Poles, their reason for invading Europe is to take over the world. This was their plan for a long time and now, by pretending they are poor and homeless, people open their hearts to them and are blind to the fact thet they are muslims, a nation of terrorists, a nation that has little regards to human life. They hate Europeans, they hate Americans, this is all a ploy. Why don't these muslim men stay and fight for their country? Poland did.

USA, Canada / Why do Americans (and Canadians) hate Polish people? [226]

Polish people come to America ands Canada and don't bother to learn the english language, they don't obey the laws, many don't pay taxes because they get paid cash by some other illegal Pole, they come and overstay their visas, many steal, cheat and lie. I'm not surprised the Poles have given themselves this opinion, they think since they are poor, America and Canada owes them everything. They don't even like our country, they live in America but speak Polish, listen to Polish radio, Polish TV, they cook Polish food, etc. This itself sets them apart and makes them the .laugh of the town. Thye thuink they are better and smarter then everyone else and they just want to rule and have things their way. Poles laugh at us, complain how we do things here, etc, so why don't they go back to their hometown, where they belong. This is America and we do things our way, not the Polish way. They are just so annoying.

they are far more racist than any of the people who may make fun of them.

Yes, that is so true. I've heard Polish people speak Polish in America about how someone looks different, that they're fat, ugly, black, chinese. They even have unpleasant nicknames for them. But they speak Polsih and chances are they don't understand.

Travel / Holidaying with a 9 and 8 year old in Southern Poland August 2014 [10]

I visited Poland with my children last year in August too, they were 8 and 10. One place we really enjoyed and I recommend is Zakopane. It is about 2 hours drive but worth it. The scenery is beautiful. You have to take a ride on a wooden "tratwa" down the river Dunaj, take a cable car up to Kasprowy Wierch and to Gubalowka. Then stroll down the Krupowki street, where you can buy everything under the sun. You can also go on this site and see what's going in Zakopane and other Polish cities: oognet.pl/content/details/124. Do not go to Oswiecim with your children! It is a very depressing and sad place. This is a vacation to enjoy, going there will only leave your children sad and depressed and you want to show the beautiful and positive side of Poland for them. There are also natural warm water pools in Zakopane, where you can spend the day. And the food is great everywhere you go. They even had corn on the cob in Krupowki. So after checking out sites in Krakow, the Wieliczka's salt mines, head down to Zakopane. The air is better and lots to do.

Law / Does Poland encourage theft? [8]

People in Poland are allowed to steal up to 400złl, after that it becomes a criminal act. What is the logic of that? The Polish law won't do anything if the theft is under that amount.

Here in the US, any kind of theft is a criminal act, even if it's only a penny. Why does Poland encourage theft?

Study / My experience in Poland (Poznan) as a student who recently moved from Syria [117]

Even white, elderly grannies are forced to take off their shoes,

If you are over 70 and under 12, you don't have to take your shoes off anymore.

I've noticed that the number of old people is too high ,I also felt that people who are in their 30s -40s are rarely seen

Some people in Poland look older than they are because of the high alcohol consumption, stress and cigarrete smoking, which ages a body faster.

Study / My experience in Poland (Poznan) as a student who recently moved from Syria [117]

I found it funny how pedestrians stop at traffic light even if there are no cars at sight

If people would obey the law, there would be less wars. It's not funny at all. Maybe people in Syria need more education on that part.

Also at airports, everybody takes their shoes off. They've been doing that for at least 10 years.

USA, Canada / General differences between Poland and the USA? [184]

What a stupid topic. Those are two different countries, different traditions and culture and there are million upon millllion of differences. You can go on forever about this and still won't cover all the diffs. it's like comparing apples with oranges. Then one country will say : " oh, we do this better than you" and argues their point, instead of accepting each country as it is.

History / How come Poles like Russians but not Germans? [216]

Duh, maybe coz the Germans set up concentration camps all over Poland and murdered millions of Poles. Even though the Russians are more stupid, they are not as evil as the freaking Germans.

History / Poland is a Catholic country [177]

In Poland people go to church, but many don't follow the churchs' teachings. They drink, they smoke, they have sex before marriage, they steal, they lie, etc. They just go to church to show others that they are believers, but they are not.

Tygrys- please read the blanket statements thread before you post again. Lenka

USA, Canada / Help get my girlfriend to Canada! [19]

When I visited Poland I earned the money the hard way. It would be nice if someone rich would pay for you, but you can't depend on others. If you want something really bad, go out there and do it. You can get cheap tickets on the internet yourself. Connecting flights are cheaper, but go get a job!! You cannot have other people paying your way all your life. Nobody has money, and if they do, they earned it. Sell something, flip a few burgers, clean the store, stock the shelves and save your money for that trip.

Genealogy / Can one become Polish? [21]

Lot of paperwork and red tape. Easier to become US citizens nowadays, specially if you're here illegally, then you get free housing, food stamps and free education while the rest of us pays for the illegals.

UK, Ireland / What does English sound like to the Poles? [30]

Americans sound like they always have something stuffed up their noses.

Are you talking about Southern Americans, New Yorkers, Bostonians, Midwesterners, the West coast Americans or black Americans. They all sound like a different language, something Poles don't understand.

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

We are too careless with what we have in America. We need to show our children how to take care of what we have before we go out and buy more of what we dont need.

Not everyone in America is careless. You are generalizing. Some are, some aren't.
In America we recycle, we wash our empty containers, take labels off and recycle. We have recycle bins everywhere. In Poland recyclables gets thrown in the garbage.

In America vehicles need emission controls installed. In Poland there is so much polution people get sick from it.
We have lots of second hand stores, goodwills, etc. where we donate used clothes and others buy them. In Poland nobody will wear clothes that were used.

There are tons of other examples how America is working towards a better Earth. So don't generalize based on your own facts.

Language / Polish Language - Basic concepts [52]

To jest dom Jana - This is Jan's house

"Jan" in English is a woman's name. If you're translating into English, you might want to translate the name also, like into "John" because someone might think you are talking about a woman here.

Love / Polish girls and American boys (who don't even know where Poland is located ;) [36]

This is to those who think they don't teach world geography in schoool. I'm a teacher in elementary school and we start world geography in 3 rd grade. 4th grade again it is studied. And that is the requirement for all schools in the US. Just because the people you know don't know where a particular country is, does not mean that automatically all American children don't know world geography. Do you know where all the US states are? Can you point them out on a map? Can you name all the states? All the rivers? All US capitals? This is taught in 4th grades, not only do we have to know about the 50 states, their capitals, state birds, state flowers etc, which are the size of some countries, the presidents, that does not mean world geography is not taught. You probably speak english with an accent. Concentrate more on yourself instead of pointing out something that someone didn't know.

Language / How to say in Polish: "Be mine!" ? [12]

These are the only correct forms (male/female)

That's right.
Bądź mój,moja/ą means "Be Mine".
Zostań moją means "Become Mine" and sounds more unnatural.

USA, Canada / Homeless Poles in NYC [25]

Unfortunately, the USA is a country that promises a lot but offers very little.

What are you talking about? You must not be from America. What it it promising you?
