Life / Polish clothing - Polish folk costumes [28]

bluestar

Like Beckski said, you are going to need to be a bit more specific... we can probably help you if you have a particular question, but if you think that we're going to do your homework for you, you have another think coming!!! :)

Meanwhile.... google is your friend.

UK, Ireland / Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK [91]

That's interesting, though I have to say that is probably just a one-off. I don't get the impression that the people behind PY have too much of a clue as to how to market the event to British culture vulchers, even though a lot has been spent on creating the PY "brand".

Anyone going to this one in Saaaaafend?

Yes, have heard of it.

Because you are involved "in the industry" (i.e. have Polish cultural connections) or from awareness in the British media? Just curious....

The term East/Eastern European slag off Polish people and shows pure ignorance.

Yes, yes... I was thinking the same, but figured that this was a discussion for a different thread. I have met ne of the organisers, and he basically seems quite well meaning (if a little misinformed). Let's see how this one goes.

Bletchley Park’s ninth annual Polish Day on Sunday 19 July ........

Yes, there are going to be quite a few Polish themed events and activities at Bletchley Park as part of the "Enigma Recaptured" campaign.

By the way, is anyone aware of Polska! Year? There seems to be lots of noise about it in certain Polish circles, though sadly it doesn't seem to be making it into the more mainstream British media... a shame given that (from what I can gather), the aim of it is to promote Polish cuture in the UK.

Yup, Polska! Year is in full swing.

If anyone is in London, check out the Wild Poland foundation's outdoor photography exhibition, which is on the Southbank, near Gabriel's Wharf - you can't miss it.

Some stunning photos - wolves, bears, bison...

See wildpoland.org for further details.

Law / Setting up small business in Poland? [191]

Surely the experience / skills / resources would determine the type of business that you set up. Also, I get the impression that you are not currently in Poland - have you even got the paperwork / visas etc. that you would need?

Language / The Plural of Zloty? [46]

lol

Eh? Why lol? Looking at all the answers, it's not so obvious.

It's funny to see this thread still running, as the article that I was writing got published ages ago, and I really can't remember what I wrote LOL!

Life / Mobile phone companies in Poland [21]

Have a look on interfax.pl - there might be some telecoms data there. Or if you're feeling bold, you can always call them and tell that that you're a student etc. Just be gracious though - after all, they're not a charity.

Sure - and I do appreciate that. Does anyone know how I can get in contact with the producers? Is it filmed in London?

Language / The Plural of Zloty? [46]

Aaah, but the context was referring to "Zloties" in general, rather than a specific sum, if that makes sense.

Well, if you're coming up, let me know!

Certainly will :))

Plus I just noticed this at the Traverse Theatre on 5th Nov. So I'm going to see about going along to that if I can. :)

Bugger!! That's just a bit too short-notice for me. Otherwise I'd be there.

Travel / Praga, Warsaw - looking for some hippish cafes [15]

Hopefully you have a good life insurance going out there :)

Is it really that bad? Not been yet, but got the impression that Praga was kind of like Shoreditch / Hoxton in London (my stomping ground) or Kreuzberg in Berlin. Am I off the mark there?
