Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

If it helps any, I am Polish. I live in NY State as well, outside of Buffalo. My entire family is Polish. I don't speak the language, but still cook and hold some of the traditions. I am married to a Korean Man, who is the love of my life. Good luck and take a chance, he did.

Food / POLISH RECIPES! [287]

I am looking for a side dish, I am not sure of the name. It has meat (beef) and barley in it. Was served at a picnic when I was a child - it was cold, and made by a woman from Poland. Any help would be appreciated.

Food / Stuffed cabbage - gołąbki - recipe [59]

My Grandmother made hers a little bit different.

Mix the ground beef with egg, cooked rice, finely chopped onion, and a 2 pieces of white bread soaked with milk.

Boil cabbage until softened, and place one large spoonful on each leaf and roll up-keep together using one wooden toothpick.

Melt 1/2 stick butter and 1/4 cup vegetable oil in frying pan, and gently brown each cabbage roll. After browning place into oven proof 9x13 pan, removing the toothpick.

After finishing with all cabbage rolls, add water 1 1/2 cups water to pan to deglaze. Add too 9x13 pan. Cover 9x13 pan with foil and bake for 1 hour.

Serve with mashed potatoes and use drippings and juice from pan as the gravy for the potatoes.

Delicious!!
