News / Poland's PIS party and the UK Tories [25]

@Dougpol1
Funny how much you dislike those torries. They basically moved to the left side in every single aspect I can think about. Perhaps you are living in the past? What is the difference between both mayor parties in the UK according to you?

News / US expert rejects visa waiver for Poles [51]

all i can say is that Visas should be created for the Americans coming over to Poland

What Poland would gain and what Poland would lose by doing so?

Terrible humor you have.

Goving us visa free travel would do the exact opposite. The braindrain would become a colossal problem

They would move from England or Norway to the US?

News / 2010 Polish Presidential Election [39]

PiS stands for a vision that this country should be for the whole nation not only the power elites

I dislike these power elites very much, of course PiS among them. In democracy, mainstream party simply must be populist to win voters. While members of such parties become opportunist very quickly.

SD on the otherhand...

There is absolutely no difference between PO, PiS or SD. There is no reason to suspect that practical policy of SD would be any different. People from SD are mostly former members of PO, for some reason excluded from this party (current leadership) and post-communist buddies without any grasp of talent (small minded smart-asses).

These days the only way how I find elections interesting is sociology, techniques of manipulations, etc. I don't even consider such possibility that anybody honest could stay in mainstream politics for a longer while. I have no interest to be an useful idiot of some dirty people.

News / 2010 Polish Presidential Election [39]

I must admit, JarKacz is a hardcore player. Lets wait what spin makers from both sides figure out this time. Which side is able to fool more people. PiS was removed from power on wave of media campaign aimed to ridicule them. Now they are back in the game on the wave of post-Smolensk sympathy started by the same hypocritical media outlets. Mediocracy.

Who will win? What is the difference anyway? If you are not a member of PiS or PO, then this doesn't really matter.

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

What is so good about the Vatican in your opinion?

Vatican provide one reasonable interpretation of Biblical texts. The fact that the Pope is the head of the church on earth underline universal character of Christianity, reduce the factor of national/ethnic tension among believers. Vatican is uniting factor. Influence of secular state on clergy is highly reduced because they must listen to Pope. This is not Anglicanism where Prime Minister chose bishops :) If Tusk would demand such right, people would think that he is totally nuts. :)

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

Decalogue? Sorry, I'm not familiar with that term.

Wild, wild west :) Google it.

So doctrine leaves no room for judgment?

Unlike protestants we believe in authority of Vatican. We don't pretend to be skilled theologians.

What can we glean from the Catechisms?

Christian wisdom :)

The Koran doesn't teach that in certain parts. It is just misunderstood by those who act in the name of Islam.

Did you read Koran?

But you know, you're free to pick and choose, unless you're a Catholic. The Council of Trent has already made it clear that you can't pick and choose. Maybe a good conversation to have on a Sunday afternoon.

You think that you know something about Catholicism but this is simply not true. You may quote Old Testament as much as you want but this is Protestant thing to be stuck to Old Testament. Catholic recognize Old Testament as mush as Old Testament is in agreement with values of New Testament. The rest is rejected.

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

Aha, and what is your religion about in the sense of values? Thanks, Lesser, your responses are valued.

Decalogue would be a good start to learn about Catholicism. Certainly more reading is needed to fully learn about mentioned issue.

What does sticking to Catholic doctrine completely entail? Is being a devout Catholic always sensible and why?

It means that if you commit sins, you must feel sorry. You cannot be opposed to any part of Catholic teaching.

So Catholic teaching is infallible in your opinion?

Doctrine is infallible. If one claims otherwise, must consider Catholicism to be a false religion. I think that this is pretty obvious.

What are the main selling points of the Catechisms according to you?

I'm not familiar with exact meaning of "selling points".

Wasn't LK on a slippery slope in terms of having to strike a balance between public duty and promoting Catholic values? Where did he go wrong?

I cannot read in his mind, I can just comment about his public stances. A good Catholic cannot believe something that he publicly deny. He was missing church's teaching as far a abortion is concentrated. His ecumenical activity was very controversial and could mislead some people. (At this point many Catholic priests aren't any better to be fair) While his wife had different opinion about in vitro.

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

Isn't religion just about labels anyway, lesser?

Certainly not our religion.

Was he a practising Christian? Why not just say he got there through his stature as President?

Such nobility should be reserved to people who stick to Catholic doctrine completely. They might be sinners like all of us but they should not publicly deny any part of Catholic teaching.

Whether the fact that he was a president is important? Yes, otherwise he could hardly be considered to be a pretender to burial at Wawel.

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

Well, I would like to write few words about this.

First of all, you people need to realize that this is none of your business. This is the case between the host (the church represented by Cardinal Dziwisz) and family.

I'm just sorry that people (like Lech and Maria) who publicly denied parts of Catholic teachings are rewarded by such a nobility. (burial at Catholic cathedral) Of course they were not the worst Catholics around but still some representative cemetery would be more appropriate.

However people who demonstrated publicly, questioning decision of bishop are disgrace for themselves. Their megalomania is laughable and arrogance pretty shocking.

Of course this is pretty funny to see especially all of those atheists, leftists, heretics or Jews whom know better who deserve to be buried at Catholic Cathedral! Outstanding :)

Life / Are people in Poland 'made' to give money to their parents? [25]

...How can you EVEN think that I was taking about my parents? Why would you NEED to feel sorry for them?

The one who raise such crazy ideas is likely to be suspected of owning large collection of "evidence" against own parents.

Do you know me at all? I don't think so.

Neither you seems to know much about Poland. Bad apples you can find everywhere but especially Slavic people are known from holding strong family ties. I have heard many foreigners voicing such opinion in the past.

Life / Are people in Poland 'made' to give money to their parents? [25]

For a child, it is always better to gather such 'evidence' (against the parent) as it considers necessary, just in case.

I feel sorry for your parents. Or perhaps this is what they taught you themselves?

When I read about more and more politically correct initiatives in the UK, about your approach to family life, I think that British culture is plain dead. In fact Muslims do a favour for Brits by slowly hijacking their state. Poor Brits no longer will be forced to bother with the rest of British customs which somehow survived the years of leftist indoctrination.

News / Official language of EU (is not Polish) [119]

Because you're thinking of the EU as a superstate, which it's not.

This is definitely their goal to become superstate and "face the US". Here we can observe a bit funny situation when their ideological goal (superstate) stand in conflict with practical interest of the bureaucratic apparatus (more useless jobs for bureaucrats). Of course in such battle the latter must always win, as we can all witness.

For the same reason, people should not be worried that the EU will ever destroy national parliaments. It will exist, just lose most of its today's influences.

If you don't see benefits to offset the billions spent on translation, you're just paying people to dig holes and fill them back up again and call it a productive job.

Amen

Life / Are people in Poland 'made' to give money to their parents? [25]

I think that this is natural to support your parents unless they really don't deserve any help. If you bear your children properly, you wont be left alone when old. Today people are brainwashed by politicians, they prefer to give their money to the state and later expect that state will take care of them. Nevertheless the state is heartless thieve and like Polish Constitutional Tribunal ruled out some time ago, it consider these money not yours any more. So remember before you learn your children "how to axe your parents", that the state give a **** about you. The state wont replace family.

News / Sikorski or Komorowski for president? [32]

Not a bad choice, given that Tusk wants to change the constitution to make the President all but ceremonial. I suspect that Komorowski also fits the job perfectly - not likely to rock the boat, stable, uncharismatic, reliable. Look at the German or Italian Presidents - does anyone even know who they are?

This is certainly interest of Donald Tusk to win such job for Komorowski. The problem is that such project wont make this state to work any better. From both evils of representative "democracy" if prefer presidential system. Otherwise there is nothing above party interest. I'm already sick and tired of following political loyalists arguing about issues without any importance to average citizen. This theatre is extremely boring and frustrating, actors are of poor quality and there is no chance for any better.

Anyway I see a substantial difference between German presidents that I recall and Komorowski. German president seemed to be more of professors without very strong bound to political parties. On other hand, who the hell is Bronislaw Komorowski? Since communist regime collapsed he was already there is politics. But in fact I don't know anything about him. Of course he was in "this and that" party before, thus it appears that he is an professional politician. A guy without any useful skills. Perhaps if he would not manage to stay in mainstream politics he would live from one salary to another. How could I respect such president?

What is worse the guy never abstained from how I call it "spit war" among political parties. He is just average political apparatchik, not a material for president.

Ok, I just checked his professional background. A historian without any achievements, I think perfect illustration of my point above. By the way, the number of historians in Polish politics is way too great.

News / Sikorski or Komorowski for president? [32]

Sikorski seems to have ambition to become a PR champion like Marcinkiewicz. I don't like such people, this is always all about populism. He might be an American agent... His position in PO seems to be too strong if you consider that he joined just recently. American lobby in Poland was strong after collapse of communism. Sikorski run some important neocon institute living in the US.

Komorowski is just average party apparatchik without any charisma. I suspect that Tusk chose him to be one of candidates because he is so sure that this guy is unable to overshadow him as a party leader.

Well, millions of us here in Poland choose to read it, and there are plenty of alternatives.

The average sale is 319.165 according to wiki, so lets be realistic :) However this is true that only "Fakt" is read by more people. Of course this proof that both tittle represent poor level. If both titles would represent high level circulation would be small duo to few people being able to handle it. There is such correlation, more readers - more primitive agenda. Of course this doesn't meant that every newspaper with small circulation is destined to intellectual elites. This is also question of financial resources. But this is a fact that really reasonable source must have small circulation.

History / Actually, there never was any Polish-German hatred [149]

Relax people, ksysia might be historically inaccurate but his intentions seems to be noble. A good Christian should not be a follower of primitive nationalism. This is not reasonable behaviour, you should not be useful idiots of some political movements raising over and over some historic issues (vide PiS). Neither useful idiots of other political movements which notoriously suggest that if you dare to disagree with policy of current German and Polish states then you are not good European (PO, SLD). Basically this is absolutely possible to hate both states and still have friendly attitude in personal relationship with individual Germans and Poles. By the way , this is often attitude of Poles towards Russia and Russian people.

Happy Easter!

History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

Catholics should finally acknowledge that without independent education system (including at home) their values and views wont preserve. Also general level of teaching is always better, this is well known fact. We should not be in relation of dependency from our toxic national states. European political establishment managed nearly to destroy (or make dependent) Catholic schools all over Europe. If this trend wont be stopped, we will struggle with our children until they will become adult "nobodies". Let be honest with ourselves, today master degree means very little. The state destroyed traditional and effective standards because their goal is to produce (on a mass scale) fools who would likely support PO, PIS, SLD, PSL and other useless political parties.

History / What British unit liberated Poland in 1945?? [445]

Just as long as you remember that Jewish is not a nationality.

I have seen two American Jews arguing about this issue. One seemed to be worried that if we define Jewishness to be something more than religious convictions then many would deny him the right to be an American as well. The second one was an atheist. Both of them would call you anti-Semite if you dare to disagree with their point of view. Funny enough...

History / Life in communism vs democracy in Poland [234]

Now we know who you talk about here.. Babyboomers are in control and let the "establishment" do these things. What can I say, things turn slowly in a big country.

You must be a really blind democrat if you think that people govern establishment. Democracy is just an illusion. Here politicians are happy, they love to see voters turning against each other. Democratic establishment is the only winner in this game.

The demand is extremely rising! And seeing how new that whole concept is it is no wonder it is not efficient....yet!
Give it another 25 years though...

No, everybody support green energy until they learn about costs. Corrupt socialists instead to help the poor people as they always used to say prefer to force them to pay higher bills.

Make it efficient and then people would switch voluntary!

I always find that thinking funny as for example Germany was always big on welfare and beaureucracy and still managed to be a highly efficient and successful society and economy!
Not to talk about the scandinavian countries as another example, all are alot more regulated
than the US - but nobody would call them less successful or a "sh*ithole"!

Germany deserve its prosperity to good working ethic, bureaucracy is always an obstacle. Now when welfare is stronger than ever before and slowly undermining this traditional working ethnic present in this society. Effects we already see, no GDP grow.

Also if one feel to be a cow then Scandinavia seems to be a good place to live. Forgive me BB, I'm human!

Remind me again, where did the biggest economic crisis of the modern times stem from?
Regulated Europe or unregulated US/UK???

Both of course, the US is not so unregulated as you claim. All this credit insanity was provoked by state regulations. The EU simply created good propaganda apparatus, blame the US, everything is so simple. The same about Putin, his own flawed policies lead to crisis in Russia. Of corse he blame the US. Ridiculous, the US has its faults but the fact that so few here is able to point out failure of domestic policies is completely ridiculous.

Well...it will make the future students in the EU more mobile and hence better suited to adapt to the new and bigger markets...they will profit from it in the end.
The whole of Europe will be open to them to study and to search for work, much more possibilities for them.

I'm a liberal and know very well what have to be done to archive such results without any sacrifices. Plenty of famous European scientists of past ages studied aboard and somehow state control of universities was not needed! Of course the EU must handle everything, control mania of this newborn state could be compared to old declarations of Benito Mussolini.

The EU cannot even run free trade zone. Limits, quotas, licences, directives this is something that every creative EU citizen must swallow. When I read that Spanish state was fined because Spanish farmers produced too much milk I wonder in what world I'm living. In Africa they would welcome such development for sure, the same in Asia or Americas, but for modern Europe this is unacceptable. This is simply insane, from the perspective of general social gains. However this is understandable from perspective of EU establishment who gladly accept all bribes and produce such "flowers".

I really doubt that stopping to talk about it will do a thing against the pollution...
Behaving like the three apes...you know: Not seeing/Not hearing/Not telling is a first class ticket into the catastrophe!

If they would transfer all cash spend on fighting global warming to reduce real pollution then at least one problem could be partially solved.

I will tell you something. Long ago, among tribal societies there were people called shamans. Those were wise but dishonest people who learned about wheather and used this knowledge to manipulate ignorant masses. They prospered really nicely.

I'm sorry to say but in XXI century in Europe or the US nothing changed. Modern shamans like Al Gore earn big bucks on talking complete rubbish to ignorant masses.

History / Life in communism vs democracy in Poland [234]

Well, not really.. You study economics , right? You want to tell me the US is not in serious decline? It is.. mostly because of these idiotic decisions made by these babyboomers. I'm sorry but it is true

I study economic only in this sense that this is one of my hobbies. Anyway, you looking at current problems from strange perspective. No generation ever signed any bill. You cannot blame average people for stupid policy in this case of American establishment. Certain people influenced by certain lobbies signed certain bills who encouraged people to take credits. Average person is responsible for its own mistakes and should face consequences. This is happening and there is no need for you to bash them. People make mistakes and they will always do.

How about establishment? Those who in fact created such trend wont face any consequences! So, here we have real problem. Here you should transfer you anger.

Not only do the decisions effect us but also Europe.

European problems have its source in Europe itself. Do you know that over here you need to have a paper (not free of charge of course!) to even change a light bulb. :) Just wait till they will chase people who still have some common sense and are able to change a light bulb without passing exams and without paying. Those socialists ruining this civilization, because you get automatically retard treatment. People treated like retards slowly become retarded indeed.

History / Life in communism vs democracy in Poland [234]

However middle class has international connections when it sees its interests in danger in one place it intervenes to save them. Most of EU is middle class network between european countries.

So you seems to recognize Marxist theory of class struggle?

It's much easier to be successful in the US than it is in Europe if you come from modest means.

Well said, Europe is a socialist sh*thole. You always need tones of papers to start something and all of this cost tones of money. A pity that Americans seems rather to start follow European way of thinking, this is not the road to prosperity for sure. Think twice before you let bureaucrats to run your life, if once they gain too much influence only some serious social turmoil may remove them.

The new EU-university reform will lead to a streamlining of universities across the EU, meaning that you can get your degree in one country and get accepted with it later in the whole of Europe...how is that for mobility and chances!

University should be outside of state control but the EU must handle everything. Same about socialist Polish state and probably the rest of socialist Europe. Kick out politicians from university, leave it to professors!

This system will always be sick as long as people wont understand that this is up to employer to recognize or not degrees from various university around the world. This is not a job of state bureaucrat. The first create jobs, the second is just a parasite who try to make it harder for everybody else.

I don't think so Eurola...green technology is a necessity, not only a trend, and will only grow as it has only just begun. The demand is rising enormously.

The demand is not rising, because it is still inefficient.

Hence the ABSOLUTE NEED for green tech to stop at least the polluting at home...

One thing is to reduce pollution and the second talking BS about global warming. Socialists of course do the latter thing.

Look at what your babyboomer generation has done to one of the greatest economic machines ever conceived. .. and still you don't get it do you? Only: Profit, profit, profit, money, money, money. Now my poor generation has to clean up and pay for your idiocy.

Babyboomers, yours obsession :) Amazing how do you identify with your generation. Just wait to hear similar nonsense from you children and grandchildren.

Freedom is just a word , in the communist days i had a job , food on the table , i was not hungry , what need do i have of freedom...?

To sacrifice freedom of all to feed few lazy losers? No, thanks!

Yes,they say Stalin gave us bread without freedom,Gorbachev gave us freedom without bread.

This must be popular saying especially in Ukraine.

Also the more of any thing the less it is worth, if everyone in your village has a thousand cabbages, the cabbage is worthless, it is the same for money, hence hyperinflation.

Well said. I will just add few words about superiority of gold standard over paper money. Since humanity passed some stage in development, demand for gold started. This is why gold became a currency. Gold is not a popular currency any more but there is still demand for gold. Gold is still widely considered valuable and costly to obtain.

How about paper money? Paper itself is so widely used and thus it is worth nearly nothing. Politicians gave people just false illusion. Today they say that paper money is worth something, tomorrow this may change. Look at Ukraine at the moment. Politicians may easy print new paper money and by doing this cheat taxpayers (more money, lesser value). On polish banknotes there is written at least that Polish Central Bank is responsible for this currency. European Union failed even to print anything like that on their banknotes, while public debt growing and growing. One doesn't need to be a genius to figure out that this currency will lost its imaginary value in the future.

allowing every member of society to participate in the decision-making process in both the political and economic spheres of life.
I suspect this can only be achieved when all people are on the same plane of consciousness. It's the job of philosophers/religions/inspired leaders to put us all on the same plane.

It can never be achieved, stop dreaming...
