UK, Ireland / What do you hate about England and English people? [142]

Being charged $7.50 for a pint of guinness in Vancouver by an English swine... Oh and all the chicken shops on the Barking road.. oh how i miss that lovely smell when i wake up in the morning looking out at the mountains... :-) oh but i was raised and educated in London and will fiercely defend it over hear in Vancouver..

And for one PF member here. i have a terrible Granville st hangover today.. Have a lovely weekend to you all..

Food / OKOCIM PORTER BETTER THAN GUINNESS STOUT? [43]

Does anyone agree that cold Okocim Porter beats Guinness Stout hands down for refreshing flavour, robustness, body and overall enjoyment, not to mention price?

Sacrilege!!

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

I pay my taxes in Canada now, i wonder if i can claim anything from the uk too?

I'd be happy with just $7.50 a week so i can get a pint of guinness in the Lennox Bar.. Actually for such shameless free advertising Lennox Bar (on Robson & Granville) should supply it for free!!

Hey Espana good to hear from you.

That incident happened not long after i arrived. It was disgusting, a real sensitive issue still.

USA, Canada / Victoria Day - Gotta love Canada! [12]

Doing great here thanks. Weather was nice the last few days so i've been relaxing on the beach and partying a little at night. Different country, same old theme.

USA, Canada / CULTURE SHOCK! (of my Polish finance who visited the US) [210]

I especially loved it when i was with my Canadian girlfriend off the beaten track in Washington State, we found this tiny little diner. We sat down at the counter and i ordered coffee in my English accent, it was like a scene from the deliverance.. everyone in the diner stared at me, it was priceless, you can't beat that..

Fortunately it never ended up like another scene from the Deliverance.. :) The Cascade Range was beautiful too.. I also loved it in Seattle, found some great bars there..

USA, Canada / CULTURE SHOCK! (of my Polish finance who visited the US) [210]

I've been to the U.S loads of times and i love it there, i have always been treated exceptionally well. I loved Chicago, and camping down the Oregon coastline and Washington state was breathtaking.. you can be negative about any country you travel to that's not too difficult. I guess it all boils down to how open minded you are..

I love travelling, even the places that i have not particulary liked, it justs broadens your mind i think.

Love / the strange polish girl who broke my heart [30]

I don't believe in god myself, i'm 41 still single, have no plans to get married, enjoy a drink, living in different countries and would say i have tremendous inner peace. I choose to live life to the full now, i have had some wonderful experiences in my life and will continue to do so. :) I guess at the end of the day it's entirely down to the individual...

Genealogy / Is tallness common among Polish people? [201]

Holland is ok really i lived there for a number of years, they joke about it themselves, it is certainly not as liberal as you may be led to believe once you live and work there. In general though it is a pretty good place and relatively safe. By the way i'm from England :)

have you ever heard an expression "Going Dutch"?

Certainly have Miranda, in Holland though"Going Dutch" is their cue to climb out of the restaurant toilet window to avoid paying their half.. :)

Genealogy / Is tallness common among Polish people? [201]

Yes the Dutch are very tall, which in itself amazes me that with them long leg strides it takes them so long to get to the bar and buy a round of drinks. !! :)

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

Sorry to hear that Giles but i'm sure it will get better, people are pretty ok as a rule.

Because London has so many people it may not have the intimacy and sense of community that a smaller city would. Good luck in the future.

Have a great weekend..

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

I'm from London and feel fine here, but if i wasn't from here i'm not sure i'd feel so comfortable. I guess any new city can be a bit daunting and uncomfortable sometimes. I think it all comes down to knowing your surroundings.
