UK, Ireland / Muslim man abuses and threatens Polish woman in the UK [49]

Let me preface this by saying I live in Poland, I am glad there's such a small Muslim population and I've all but given up on the UK and it's inability to curb Islamic influence.

Now that that's out of the way, why has this thread been posted? This altercation is old, and even the article was written on the 5th March.

Law / My bf's visa expired and we want to marry in the UK [9]

He shouldn't be in the UK, and he will never enter Poland. They'd stop him at the border and it's a shame they haven't found him before that. And when they do find him, he'll be sent back to India and probably be barred from entering the EU for years if not his whole life.

Do yourself a favour and find someone who lives locally and isn't a law breaker. How you expect an illegal to raise children legitimately is beyond me.

Classifieds / Looking for best way to get in touch with someone, I met from Poland. [11]

it's a little late to ask a name when you have been talking to someone for hours

Better that you potentially look embarrassed for a minute or two asking for a name, than part ways and go on the Internet trying to find her.

This should be a lesson for you, don't pander to "social norms".

Law / Preparing for Polish B1 Exam for Citizenship [11]

@exodus

It's a small forum and anyone who posts here has either left Poland, is Polish already or isn't qualified for citizenship.

Facebook has expat groups, maybe you'll find a foriegn citizen there.

Life / Long-term living and working in Poland [12]

How marketable are you in the US? The only reason you shouldn't at least try to live here is if there's any chance that should you dislike Poland, you have issues re-acquiring a job back home.

Also I'd visit here more, especially in Winter. One vacation isn't going to cut it, I travelled here 4 times before I made the move, 2 weeks apiece and in all seasons.

It's been almost 2 years since I moved and I'm still happy, and I live on 3-4k gross.

Terri is right about the general attitude by the way, but I like the fact that most people keep to themselves.

Food / What happened to the fish and chip restaurant in Krakow? [4]

There was one in the first place? It should have marketed itself better, I've been really craving fish and chips recently. I visited Trójmiasto recently but my companions had other ideas...

Love / Do Polish girl interested in Indonesian guy? [8]

@RedWhite

Your English is sorely lacking, which is my point. You should be talking to English natives with language exchange, the fact that you went out of your way to exchange with a Polish girl instead is rather suspect.

Love / Advice needed... Canadian guy to meet a Polish woman in Poland [15]

@Sparks11

I think OP would have a hard time dating German or Swede given his views.

As for Ukrainian or Czech, this is the Polish forum is it not?

OP trolling or not your best bet is to move here first, integrate and then find a woman naturally. Girls will be very skeptical of any guy claiming he wants a long term relationship yet hasn't developed any roots in the country.

Love / Do Polish girl interested in Indonesian guy? [8]

She's probably nice to you because you're having a (undoubtedly flawed) language exchange and Polish girls are generally polite.

At least I presume it's a language exchange, you haven't even mentioned meeting face to face.

News / Reporter says she would trade 10 Polish lives if it helped thousands of immigrants [61]

Wow, using multiple terrorist atrocities to make cheap political points

You are of the same ilk who attack Tommy Robinson for making valid statements.

Islamic terrorist attack:

Liberal: Nothing to do with Islam, just an extremist, as long as we spread peace and love all will be okay.
"Right wing neo-nazi": It has a lot to do with Islam, there are many calls for violence and death to infidels in the Qur'an.

Same liberal: Do not spread your political ideology in the wake of tragedy. Racist! "Hitler supporter!"

If a terrorist attack happens, you do nothing.
If someone makes an argument you don't like, you shut it down with empty words effectively achieving nothing.

Britain used to be something, thanks to soft cases like yourself it's become a target.

Work / What qualifications are required to teach English in Poland? Completed 2 week TEFL course [53]

I started with zero training and only 2 months of private tuition under my belt.

BUT,, I interview well, I am well-spoken as a result of life-long meticulousness and I have a personality that is able to motivate/keep people engaged. Since then I have been learning through experience (Feedback both from students and your employer help), and developing grammar and language nuances in my own time.

So you can either get a job by being qualified,

or

Having what it takes to teach naturally, demonstrating you're not tainted by the dialect of a Scouse teenager, and putting the time in at home so you can explain grammar beyond "It's just how it is".

Having both is great of course, but be aware that if you are qualified on paper but have no teaching/interpersonal skills a lot of students will come to resent having you and someone like me will end up hearing about it.

Work / I need help to calculate the tax in Krakow, Poland [17]

Why the dupe? Google "Polish PIT calculator contributions", why do you require the hand-holding? It'll pay you to learn how to be self-sufficient before you come over.

Love / English proposing to a Polish lady [31]

Re: Young marriage

1) Can engage in sex sin-free
2) Pressure from family and friends to get married
3) Unwanted pregnancy and strict abortion laws result in not wanting a bastard child

In countries like the UK:

1) What's sin? Some kind of body spray?
2) Be an independent woman!
3) I don't like condoms, let's use the pull out method. If anything goes wrong we can abort/adopt/use the MA pill from over the counter. We also have 19 available forms of contraception to choose from.

Work / I need help to calculate the tax in Krakow, Poland [17]

1. You might want to change the dollar sign to zł. Or at least confirm you're receiving the equivalent to that amount but in zł. Poland doesn't use the dollar. Nor does the rest of Europe.

2. It takes 2 minutes on Google to find out about PIT, NFZ and ZUS, and another minute to find a website that will calculate it for free. There are also other threads on the matter - this one will probably be merged with one of them.

3. I'm not your dear, buddy

Work / I have to decide between two job offers, Berlin vs Wroclaw [44]

It's not a user friendly kind of place (a quality I actually mostly like).

Hear hear!

England was far too easy for me, and having seen the disparity between there and here it's no wonder Brits suffer from so much complacency. I have never cared for higher earnings so I had little incentive to develop myself career-wise.

Dominic; as long as Zamkowe in the Rynek stays open I wouldn't go to any other establishment for food anyway ;)

Great tip on the Opera, I have yet to see a performance in one and I visit Wrocław occasionally. Thanks.

Love / Urgent Relationship help - wife wants to stay in Poland [118]

For what little it's worth BritBoy I hope everything works out - whether it's 1 year or 5 years from now.

You must feel quite betrayed at this, for many reasons I can imagine. It's really imperative to find the right person these days before you make them your wife &/or a mother.

Work / I have to decide between two job offers, Berlin vs Wroclaw [44]

I can always tell which response is Dominic's when I enter these threads, and that's not a derogation heh heh.

Jon while you have contention with Dom's methods he's very objective and there's some realism in what he says, and I must repeat that anyone who really wishes to come here will not be dissuaded from doing so.

For me 1350EU seems like pittance in Berlin considering German cost of living, correct me if I'm wrong. I would take Wrocław on principle because it's closer to expected salaries.

Study / Any international student going to or have studied at Uniwersytet Warszawski (Uni. of Warsaw)? [5]

Say you don't have money, but clearly

Polish universities were described as ****** holes and bad places......But I don't care.

You have money to throw away.

I'm not seeing much difference between not having enough money for something and then throwing what money you do have away on something useless.

If you don't have enough money for a toaster do you buy a broken one, put the bread in and hope a miracle happens or do you save up for one/just eat the bread as it is?

Perhaps another European country will be more suited to your needs.

Love / Polish girl "loves" me, despite not meeting in real life first [56]

Perhaps if a Polish person was falling in love with an Australian, they might have enough incentive to do some research into the culture. But that's just a theory. From my side my girlfriends have wanted to learn more about English culture because they were dating me but I told them not to bother - it will only lead to frustration.

If you want to impress this girl, I'm sure that some research is warranted. Otherwise you will just be pigeonholed with all the other ignorant civilians of English speaking countries, as you being now and as I am trying to avoid myself.

Are you done with the validation seeking Aussie?

"Look what she did/said now! You guys are so wrong and this girl is great".

We get it. If (not when) your heart gets broken don't forget to learn from the experience and grow some humility.

News / Only 37% of Poles read a book in 2017 [13]

1. Is the title supposed to say 2016? Your usage of past simple and the fact that we're only 4 months in brings it to question.

2. In the UK I'd be surprised if it reached a whole digit, I was astounded when going to Targi Książki and it was rammed with people on a Sunday and for the whole day. I dread to think how busy it was on that Saturday.

Poland is the only country where I've been in traffic and someone is reading a book in their car as opposed to their phone.
