UK, Ireland / Moving to Cambridge - advice needed on Polish shops, church and community? [4]

Thanks for the help, Pam!

I've had a look online at what shops there are, and it looks like there's a big Polish community in Cambridge.

What I'm really looking for is someone living in the area who can give in-depth advice on the city and neighbourhoods.

Thanks again.

In case this thread becomes relevant to anyone else, I just wanted to update it to say that there are plenty of Polish shops in Cambridge, and the supermarkets all stock lots of Polish food, so my girlfriend doesn't run the risk of getting homesick!

Apparently there is a large Polish population here, and I hear Polish spoken on the street almost every day. Cambridge seems like a cool place so far.

Language / Can anyone recommend an app that has a good number of Polish verbs conjugated? [7]

I've found that good Polish language apps are pretty hard to come by, but I could have missed them.

The best Polish language book that I bought is Polski dla Obcokrajowców - it's the foundation of my (very amateurish) Polish language learning. You should check it out - learning using a book works better for me than apps, but that's a personal thing, I guess.

Writing out verb tables helps them stick in my head.

If you google 'Polish Grammar in a Nutshell', you can find a really in-depth .pdf that goes through all the basic and not-so basic facets of Polish grammar. It's pretty good for when you want to melt your brain a little.

Good luck!

UK, Ireland / Moving to Cambridge - advice needed on Polish shops, church and community? [4]

Witam,

My girlfriend and I will be moving to Cambridge within the next month as I have managed to get a job in the city.

We don't know much about the city other than how expensive the rental properties seem to be.

Can anyone give us any advice about the city and the best places to aim to live?

My girlfriend is Polish and we're both keen to live near Polish shops and the Polish church (I'm more interested in the Polish restaurant but we can compromise). It'd be great to get in touch with the Polish community in Cambridge so that we both felt at home.

Any tips about 'man with a van' or other moving services would be much appreciated, too.

Z gory dziękujemy
