UK, Ireland / Do Poles and EU Citizens exploit the British welfare state [129]

It's not a taboo, sure Poles exploit the generous British welfare system.
Per example, Polish mothers have more children once they come to Britain than in their homeland, they are the most fertile national group in the UK, well before Pakistanis, Indians and Bangladeshis. It sounds very odd that the welfare system is for something.

Meantime in Poland population is decreasing partly because of emigration, but also because of low birth rate - too low to renew the actual population of Poland.

If Poland had to have a true welfare state, I believe that demographic and emigration problems would be solved.

Life / Driving Offences in Poland - How Fast can you go without being arrested? ;) [56]

@Maluch: Welcome to one of the most "lax" regarding traffic rules country in the world (except for DUI, so don't drink)!
Good news: you can peacefully drive over 50 km/h over the speed limit, even in villages, and you won't get more than 500 PLN fine (maximum fine, except if you drop on a "nice" cop); moreover, as a foreigner, they won't even award you points on your license :-D!

Just, please be careful not to take on of us 6 feet under, nor make someone handicapped for life!

P.S.: did you know that:
-Fines in public transports are higher and with less "tolerance" than for cars?
-If you cross a red light while walking, they won't miss you?
-That in 2011, more than 4000 cyclists were locked down behind bars for drunken driving, that was more than all motorists together for the same offense?

Life / Do Polish people have a temper? [53]

But this is the wonderful promised freedom from the market economy without constraint that many Poles seems to blindly believe. Maybe, with even more deregulations, less social protection, universal "umowy smieciowe" (trash working contracts), more aggressive management (and marketing), huge pressure on salaries with dumping threat, to get ridiculous retirement pension at the end, 24/7 alcohol stores almost everywhere to help, ETC. If with all of that it's still not getting better, it must be the fault of the Polish fate. Though, I've noticed many Poles strongly thinks they are better than their neighbor or working partner, when in fact, they are the same or even more mediocre.

Study / Advertising studies in Poland a good idea ? [3]

Already with Erasmus they are a lot of Spanish/Southern European students that come to Poland. But, IMHO, the reason has more to do with sex appeal of Polish women to them, and they know it well; instead than a real interest for the country or its universities/higher degree education.

Life / Why are Polish so conservative and religious? [240]

As for Polish women, they are usually very feminine/family oriented and complying with the patriarchal style of life. Polish Roman Catholic strong "traditional" faith is no stranger to that. It also quite controversial, because I haven't met any women that will refuse sex before marriage, but many will keep the child if getting fertilized, even if not telling you.
