Love / Cannot get married as a catholic in Poland if I don't have sacraments - No kids without Church marriage [9]

Hi everybody
I'm married to an amazing polish girl, I love her and she loves me back. We've been married since 2011, and together since 2006. Considering I'm almost in my thirties, I'd love to have kids considering we're both working. The problem is that I don't have any of the sacraments and my wife won't have any children unless we're married in church. I have proposed her to make a small ceremony(of course me getting married even as an atheist:which I'm not but I can't get married as a catholic if I don't have the sacraments) for 2 of us and go somewhere a on a little holiday because I don't have 30-40 k to spend on the wedding but she doesn't agree. It has to be a wedding as everybody she says :(, the thing though is that her friends got money from their parents and our parents are not rich or not even close to rich so we do have to pay for everything ourselves.

Now, everytime this comes up we finish having an argument, with her saying that she doesn't want kids unless we get married in church and me saying that we don't have money for a big ceremony. I have to say that I wasn't baptized because when I was born, my country was communist and I have tried later but it takes till 2 years ( from what I've heard ) and I go in my country only for 2 weeks/year, to visit my parents, here in PL I can't because my polish is very basic.

Any advice/opinion is welcomed.

Work / EU Blue Card for Poland. Which salary is needed? [47]

non-EU nationals also

I'm a non-European Union national( European yes but just not yet part of the EU ) so yes.

So after 5 years, can you get that kind of residence permit (can work and live in other EU countries also ) described by Monitor?

Yes, I think. But considering you loved Krakow so much why would you want to go somewhere else in the EU ?

Work / EU Blue Card for Poland. Which salary is needed? [47]

It took me 3 years and 5 months to take the permanent residence permit ( haven't got the card yet but I received the decision a few days ago ) in Poland. What Monitor here suggested you it's another thing and yes it takes 5 years but the difference is that you can reside in all of EU ( from what I know, I stand to be corrected ) while with the permit to settle-in Polish is called:zezwolenie na osiedlenie sie ( this is what I got ) you can live & work in Poland permanently and not spend more than 90 days in the other EU countries.

News / Krakow, Poland considers co-hosting the Winter Olympic in 2022 with Slovakia (UPDATE) [30]

FFS some more billions to be spent on Olympics, after Euro 2012 everyone I know kept saying about Poland wasting money, maybe 10 years later they'll forget about it and think it's going to be a good decision. Personally I'd never agree.

Hmmm, if you are talking about Sochi that from what I remember I did see it on national TV....

No Lenka, he's talking about Paralympics not the Olympics.

Law / Poland's Karta stalego pobytu - how long does the procedure take? [23]

positve decision that you will obtain your temp residence card

Ok, I'm really confused now. I specifically asked and they told me it's "karta stalego pobytu", even in a pamphlet I got there it's written: Zezwolenia na osiedlenie sie udziela sie na czas nieoznaczony.Dokumentem potwierdzajacym uzyskanie zezwolenia na osiedleni sie jest karta pobytu wydawana na 10 lat. I'm worried because I told my boss it's a non limited bloody permit.

Law / Poland's Karta stalego pobytu - how long does the procedure take? [23]

It seems there is a confusion in some terms

Yes indeed :D :D

What is the exact name of the procedure you are undergoing (applying for)?

In the decision I received today from Wydział Spraw Obywatelskich i Cudzoziemców in Krakow is written: Wojewoda Małopolski zezwala się Panu .... ( me :D ) na osiedlenie się na terytorium Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej.

Work / Question on verification of documents for a job Interview in Poland [15]

Well,it depends what the HR girl knows. Once in Krakow I was refused a job because the HR girl said I need a work permit. By the time I proved that I don't need it because I already have a residence permit and I'm allowed to work legally in PL, they had already hired someone else in that position. In your case the best is to make sure about the job, this way you don't waste money and time on paperwork. If you're sure they're going to hire you, give them all the documents needed ( best would be if translated in polish by a licensed translator ). If I may ask: where is this company located ?

Law / Poland's Karta stalego pobytu - how long does the procedure take? [23]

From memory they have to give you the decision within 45 days

Thnx mate,I thought something was wrong because the previous cards were all ready within a month. I guess I'll have to wait another 2 weeks.

They just called me !!! I'm going tomorrow to the office to receive the decision. Finally, I'm sooooooo happy, end of that 6-months/1 year long cards.

Law / Poland's Karta stalego pobytu - how long does the procedure take? [23]

Hi everyone,
I filled the application for this card in the middle of February and a week later I was there with my wife for the interview. It's been 1 month and I haven't heard of them.

Does anybody have any idea how long does the procedure take ? I was hoping to apply for a loan, look for an apartment and to finally settle but unfortunately I can't apply with the residence permit I currently have because one of the conditions for applying is having a bloody karta stalego pobytu which I don't even know how it's called in english.

Does anyone know how long should I wait for them to call me ?
Thnx a lot

Work / Is salary of 3000 Euros gross enough to live decently in Lodz, Poland? [53]

Remember that salaries are quoted gross

Yep, and my gross salary is 1600 PLN ;) net is 3200 PLN. Guess how did that happen. Yes you're right, most of my salary I get in cash without any proof of it being given to me. And I can't do anything about it because I'm almost sure I'd get fired if I even talked about that and I can't afford losing my job, got to bring food to my family :).

Study / preparatory Polish language courses [12]

I think it would be better to just find somebody(polish) in korepetycje who has some experience teaching english and has a decent education(maybe a degree in english philology). At least that's how I learned polish in the beginning and the price was ok,25 PLN/hour.

Life / Need help with Play Sim Card; account balance [3]

It means you have 117.45 PLN + the sum written in the contract. I have a 30 PLN/month contract, and whatever I spend more ( sms to my friends abroad or phone calls abroad) is added to the 30 PLN.
