You don't have to go through the trouble of installing your own vpn, you can just download Chrome extensions these days. If you have Google Chrome then proxmate.dave.cx works excellently for unblocking content (including region restricted YouTube videos). iPlayer support is coming soon (and can already be accessed if you are willing to pay a small amount). There are other good extensions but the names evade me at the moment.
