Life / Is Poland split into two religions: catholicism and non-believers? [103]

And those blacks claiming they're Christian then hating on us whites. It's so Christian!!!!

Your argument is invalid, if there are black christians hating on white people in Europe (I personally didn't encounter such people, but I did encounter Chrsitian Poles who identified themselves as a white country that hate non-white people), this doesn't make such behavior right.

How representative those people are of the whole and what are you complaining about?

for the first question it would be easily answered by asking poles who identify as christian if they hate/dislike/prefer not to have a relation with a non-white person (according to their definition), I am complaining about a big chunk of Poles identifying themselves as Christians while having a prejudice against everyone who isn't white, this is a non-christian behavior, saying that you believe in jesus christ then hating on someone who has a different look is a big example of hypocrisy.

Well, Christianity observed on the middle east adopted a subdued, tamed and tailored version of Christianity fitted for people who are under Islamic heel.

Not really, the contrast that I see between Christians in middle east and Christians in Poland is that Christians in middle east focus more on the spiritual aspect of religion whereas the some Christians in Poland practice a Christianity that follows literally the bible and some rules in a way that makes them similar to muslims

Life / Is Poland split into two religions: catholicism and non-believers? [103]

What is an interesting case in Poland is the people who chant "polska czysta polska biała" and identify themselves as Catholics, what an oxymoron that is, but I guess such narrow minded people don't realize that

and after knowing more about certain practices of catholic poles I start to wonder how extreme some people are and adopted a twisted version of Christianity that is far different from the Christianity observed in the middle east, where it has all began.

UK, Ireland / Polish smugglers caught and jailed [10]

I remember when I was in London a friend of mine told me "look what i'm smoking" , his pack of cigarettes had the words "palenie zabija" , I was surprised, he told me " yeah, cigarettes are very expensive here in the UK, so I buy them from a local grocery store that has them smuggled from Poland"

Travel / Hire a Car in Berlin to drive into Poland - can I cross the border driving it? [15]

It's strange - a car rented in Poland cannot drive within the Schengen zone

Usually you can drive it in the schengen zone for an extra fee (usually 50 zloty paid on time no matter the duration of the rent ), there is even a local renting company in Poznan which allows border crossing without charging extra

Work / Studies In Poland, is it easy to survive on part-time jobs? [259]

then Poland is not the country for you.

I second that, unless you have some incredible skill (which I doubt), even if you succeed to find a part-time job in an international company, the salary that they'll give you won't be enough to cover your living expenses (not taking into account the fees you need to pay if you want to study in english)

Life / Why are Muslims seen as a deterrent to Poland? [564]

having women showing their bare arms and legs walking in public without their head not covered with their hair blowing in the wind wearing lipstick, insisting that pork be sold in their meat shops and to demand Western laws be implemented so the Muslims would be required to honor them

which poor muslim country doesn't allow such ? In Syria (where a big portion of refugees come from) everything of the above is available, most muslims come from countries that have secular laws, and just few have "sharia laws" , mauritania, sudan, saudi arabia, iran, afghanistan and pakistan, now how many of these come to Europe and want to "enforce" their laws on westerners ?

You've never lived amongst the muslim community but it doesn't stop you from thinking that you know better than people who live among them

I have. and non of them has the attitude of " I want to come to Europe to enforce muslim law that isn't enforced in my country"

Travel / Trip to Poland this summer - how much spending money to bring??? [12]

300-400USD

that's too much i think, I used to live in Poznan and I spent around 400 dollars per month for everything, I used to go out a lot and buy drinks in pubs and bars , pay rent (a medium apartment shared with another person) and cook food and sometimes eat out or order delivery.

from my experience you need around 300-400 zloty (75-100 USD) for food per month if you only cook (and I always had at least 250g of meat in my main meal),

the transportation in rzeszów according to the website is 70 zloty per month (17.5 USD)

I would recommend you to travel around Poland, there are many interesting places and cities to visit, and if your relative doesn't cook traditional polish food I would recommend you to search for a traditional polish restaurant, restaurants in Poland are cheap (you can easily drink and eat well for 7-10 dollars)

Work / WORKING. STUDYING AND DOING BUSINESS IN POLAND AS INTERNATIONAL STUDENT [15]

I see that you are from Azerbaijan, if you speak russian well you "might" find a job in a company that requires russian speakers, usually to contact russian customers, but your chances to get such a job and with a part time schedule are quite low

News / Poland's Sejm passes anti-terrorist act; opposition negate [86]

authoritarian regime of his home country and a democratically elected one with ease.

I didn't say that the current political system in Poland is authoritarian, but i'm seeing many elements (especially in this anti-terrorist act) that suggest that it's shifting towards authoritarianism. Again, I might be wrong, but time will tell :)

You sure you're not kissing and all?

Are you fantasizing about it ?

being from Syria

And polish.

a Muslim

An atheist from a catholic family

you have the right of it of being concern about those laws

I voiced the reason of my concerns, I might be wrong, but time will tell, there are already people who are condoning the use of this law to suppress demonstrations

if anti-terrorism law curbs media's protests and protests such as KOD then it is better for Poland and Polish people,

promote pervert marriage, abortion on a whim, legalising "recreational" drugs, and self-style gender identification.

Isn't that the United States that you live in ? Why don't you come here to Poland ? All these legislation, laws, politics that you support are affecting our lives (the people who are living here) not yours.

Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

hahaha, I don't think that's the type of answers he wanted to get.

So, Polish girl? Not, if her parents are asked

That's not completely true, it totally depends on the family. I know many cases of polish-foreigner couples (with the parents' consent), it's not that uncommon as you portray it. Nevertheless, I don't think that the nationality of Tom2000 is the main issue in "successfully seducing" the Polish girl that he likes.

You have never heard of the concentration camps the US govt set up for Japanese Americans during WW2 just to be on the safe side.

And Hiroshima and Nagasaki to be on the safe side, and Auschwitz also to be on the safe side. Do you still live in the 1940s ? Newsflash, we're in 2016, these methods aren't for this era.

France is now under a state of emergency at present

It's good that you mentioned France, if you're following the news there, they are having demonstrations even thought hey're under a state of emergency. My concern with PiS's anti-terrorism law, is that terrorism might be used as a pretext to ban legitimate democratic protests, as many many regimes have done that.

Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

I don't know how the dating culture is in Korea, but in most European countries:

You like a girl, you ask her on a date, she's interested, she goes out with you, if things go well, you ask her again, if she's also still interested she'll keep going out with you, things should escalate by the first couple of dates (kissing, making out .. etc), if things continue to go well, then you will start seeing each other more and more.. then you'll be practically in a relationship, then you can ask her or you can both discuss to be in a relationship.

What you did is pay for a girl to travel for free in hopes that she will like you, that doesn't usually work.

You asked her to be your girlfriend although (I assume) you didn't even kiss her, people don't usually do that. I hope you didn't tell her that you loved her also...

did i bother her.

That's not a good question to ask.. If you think low about yourself and that you're someone who bothers people, other people will start thinking the same about you, even if you weren't bothering them.

If you are still in the same city, ask her out on a date, and try to kiss her at the end (or during the date if you saw an opportunity) , if she rejects you, then you will be 99% sure that she's not interested. Forget about her, and move on.

Travel / Muslim tourist visiting Poland - safety concerns [51]

becoz we don't want to be victims or any danger, its sounds like a warzone .

It's not that brutal, Warsaw should be ok since it's summer time and there are many tourists. But there's always a slight possibility that someone on the street will give you "weird" looks, or even say something about you in Polish (you wouldn't even notice, since you don't speak polish)

Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

We had a very nice conversation, she told me lots of her stuffs like her family, her experience from child and exs.

That doesn't mean anything. good "friends" speak about stuff like that.

And she told me she cannot love a person fast cuz she is different.

She's not that different, it takes time with most people to "fall in love".

You paid for everything and she's not even your girlfriend, not even a person that you date.

Usually, in Poland (and most of the world), if you are interested in a girl, you ask her out for a date, if she is interested in you, she'll accept, if she's not interested, she'll decline or give you some excuse. That's how you know if there's a potential for some "romance" to happen between you two. When you paid for everything, she probably accepted because she saw it as a free opportunity to travel and not because she likes you.

I don't know if you're still in touch with her, or if you still talk to her, but the best way to know for sure it simply to ask her out on a date.

I don't want to be rude, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't into you.

She saw an opportunity to travel for free, so she did take that opportunity. You should move on, and you shouldn't expect that someone will love you if you pay for them.

I am willing to take care of spend for the one I love.

That's ok, if you're 100% sure that they love you back.

and be able to talk to respective populations

So you think that I have been living in Poland since 2013 without having any contacts with Poles ? You should come visit us at Poznan University of Economics to have a chitchat with the Polish professors, and discuss PiS's economic policy with them. You might be in shock when you discover how they heavily criticize it, maybe you only have contact with Poles in remote villages.

Anyway, you are diverging from the main topic by making this discussion about me.

I think you believe all people are evil and should not have power

I'm not an anarchist

and not all people seeking power are evil

I didn't say that all people seeking power are evil, but we shall see what PiS will do with the "extra" power that they are trying to acquire.

by what standard

Jus sanguinis

do you seriously believe state media were objective before PiS

Do you believe that state media are objective after PiS ?

we don't need hysterics here

Are you telling me that these aren't indicators of totalitarianism ? Maybe it's too early to judge now, but time will tell.

learn Polish and talk to Polish people more

I am Polish :)

you will learn more about how totalitarian Poland has become and how opressive it is

This is still in process.. the laws that are being passed indicate that Poland is heading this way, we shall see :)

If you are so clueless about what's going on here, better leave.

Meddling with the Constitutional Tribunal work, passing laws that can be used to silence opposition, taking control of state media..
If you look at history, these are all alarming signs that suggest a shift towards totalitarianism

if you don't like leave

I will probably leave after graduating this year, it's just a shame to witness Poland's transformation to totalitarianism. When I first came here in September 2013, things were great, but now it's deteriorating.

maybe you will thus justify the forces of Light from Russia to stop fascism yet again as they did in the past

Is that your way of calling me Pro-Russian ?

a truly despicable regime that opresses the masses - it's a matter of time when joint American-Russian forces liberate us only to discover mass-graves of the regime's opponents

Your sarcasm isn't contributing to the discussion. I have lived before under the rule of a regime that had the exact same laws that PIS just passed, needless to say, they used all these laws to crush the opposition, and monitor and intimidate/arrest anyone who opposes them.

these countries must really fail

Not necessarily, but Jon demonstrated how terrorists can easily use other sources of telecommunication, so this law isn't effective in detecting terrorists, and might be used in the way that Kpc described:

when a normal citizen, who registers his SIM card, does something that the government doesn't like (although it's not truly illegal - for example opens a Facebook profile criticizing the government) - then it will be not a problem to find a way to punish him.

Internet blocking on demand of Internal Security Agency
Proposed regulation provides for immediate blocking of the access to any Internet content on demand of the Chief of Internal Security Agency. Only after 5 days, a court will be supposed to verify whether the blocking demand was justified.

It reminds me of the Turkish government when it blocks Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook, in order to silence the voice of the opposition and disconnect them from the world in an attempt to hide the protests that were occurring on Taksim square.
